1F62 terminated at Victoria - conductor shortage apparently. Enjoyed the ride that far though.
What’s happening with sear reservations? All paper, some electronic display but not agreeing with each other.

The route learning trips between Scarborough/York and Redcar Central have continued this week and there are paths for next week too.

A major change from next week is the cessation of the light engine diagram off Scarborough in favour of a trip using a Nova 3 set. 68026 plus TP11 arrived at the new Scarborough TMD on Friday 04.10.2019

Nova 3 in passenger service
This week has seen the introduction of a fresh Nova 3 set into passenger service with 68030 ‘Black Douglas’ plus TP12 in traffic on both Saturday and Sunday.

This week there were zero cancellations due to the train, and just one due to shortage of train crew.

Does anyone know the official TPE designations for the diagrams? I’ve labelled them 1 and 2 in the order they were introduced!

As always, any corrections then please do let me know and I’ll update.

Is there an intention to add any more diagrams in the coming weeks, or will it remain as just the two for the foreseeable?

Two for the foreseeable. I believe TPE haven't accepted anymore yet as CAF have not delivered a product that is up to standard.

Can anyone confirm the official date for TP12?

With TP11 at Scarborough for training I’d guess it might be a few weeks before we see a third diagram. TP08 undergoing Fault Free Running is a very positive sign. I wonder if we might see another diagram by the end of October?

They are pretty much fixed formation like units aren't they (intermediate bar couplings?) so I expect they should remain fairly constant - indeed hasn't it been written that the 68 on each set won't change that often either?

I'd guess that the key development needed for more diagrams is enough staff trained at Scarborough to start and finish a diagram there instead of Longsight.

I think that’s spot on. With the new Scarborough TMD now open and Scarborough crews being trained, it seems things are moving on very nicely.

It isn't obvious that any more diagrams would be easy to add before the December timetable change so perhaps just two until then? Looking at RTT:

1) There aren't any additional workings which start at Longsight shown before 16 December 2019. One of the current 185 workings to Scarborough starts at Ardwick and two which start at Scarborough finish there.
2) There are three 185 diagrams that start at Scarborough. One (0600 to Manchester Airport) goes onto Newcastle / Middlesbrough workings. The other two do Scarborough all day but end up at Ardwick as noted above
3) There are three 185 diagrams which end at Scarborough. Two do Newcastle / Middlesbrough workings during the day, the other starts at York.
4) Other diagrams start at York which doesn't seem to get 68+Mk5 stabled until mid-February

The closest to an out and back diagram from Scarborough onto which you could put 68+Mk5 is the diagram which starts with 0738 Scarborough to Liverpool Lime Street. This ends 2146 Scarborough to Manchester Victoria / 2358 Manchester Victoria to Ardwick. You could run this last part by stepping up the 185 off the 1856 Liverpool Lime Street to Scarborough (arrives 2139). It would then be straightforward to swap the 68+Mk5 which does the 2246 to Manchester Piccadilly to create three diagrams (with the existing pair).

Having looked at RTT after 17 December, there are then additional workings from Longsight and segregation of Scarborough workings from other routes. Notably, the current Manchester Victoria starter (1F48) goes back to coming from Ardwick until 17 February 2020. It would appear that this date is when 68+Mk5 stock is planned to start / finish at York and maybe from which point there are seven diagrams but obviously I am only guessing at this.

For reference, I think the current weekday diagrams involving Scarborough implied by RTT are:

Thank you for your help gentlemen. It was set TP 08 I saw at Crewe on Saturday, with 68019. There was one carriage I didn't get the number of, but as they are fixed sets, it narrows it down as to which one I missed. Again thank you.

Not having a Longsight schedule’s no issue at all, the Longsight ones in use now are frequently used for 185s coming off Ardwick, and putting a new schedule in could be easily enough done if needed, and I don’t see any particular problem with a diagram starting at one end and finishing at the other if it did the opposite move the day after. Even an ECS to SCA at the end of the day wouln’t be the end of the world.

You are right, it would be possible to put in an 'short-term plan' change to one or two of the diagrams before December. 'Short-term plan' workings go into the schedules on a frequent basis - e.g. this morning's move of a class 68 from Longsight to York and 5F48 coming from Ardwick this morning.

All I guess that I am saying is that there is currently no obvious sign of a 'long-term plan' diagram for 68+Mk5 before the December timetable change. On the same token, it is clearly possible to have 185s running the Longsight starters after December but coming from Ardwick.

However, the 'long-term plan' as implied by the open data feed appears to show four diagrams from mid-December and then the next uplift in mid-February.

there is a plan for before December and the set being at Scarborough is a good sign however whether it happens or not depends very much on train crew being passed out.

Two for the foreseeable. I believe TPE haven't accepted anymore yet as CAF have not delivered a product that is up to standard.
Hmmm your opinion seems to differ somewhat to the actual facts. You seem to be oblivious to the various postings which if you read would see that 5 sets have been accepted with 4 of those being used in passenger service so far.

I can assure you that CAF team are working their socks off at MID. They're about to except another MK5 set...

Thank you so much for your time in posting the diagrams, certainly an interesting read.

It certainly looks like the ‘low hanging fruit’ of out and back turns from Longsight have already been taken.

From your list the cycle G/F/D would look to be the next potential diagram, assuming York is ready to receive the sets.

Thanks for that. I understand the reason for days with one set out rather than two has been down to a shortage of crew passed out. Fingers crossed the training at Scarborough eases this.

1F60 shown as 41 late from Scarborough. According to TPE ‘Journey Check’ this is ‘due to a fault on this train’.

Unable to open the doors on the set prior to boarding was one reason given, believe there was a safety issue too as heard the guard say this to a passenger on the next table.
