With 16 x 755/4 and 1 755/3 accepted for service it shouldn’t be a total disaster tomorrow.
It was a bit of a disaster Saturday and that's before 4 more 153s went.

for the diesel units and the 360s, the units aren't going to scrap or storage, they're off to other operators who have franchise commitments of their own.
So here's a question for some on this thread. Say tomorrow the senior management are given the heave ho. For some reason you're hired in.
How would you fix the crisis?
Remember, hiring in other stock has training issues, has gauging issues etc.
Indeed, and many of us had concerns even before that going back to the start of the bid.Is the lucky recipient of the job allowed to time travel a year back to the past when the future was predicted with remarkable accuracy?

Social media is full of reminiscing tosh about the East Anglian Scuds with some even saying they will miss the God awful heaps. Where has that love suddenly come from? Good riddance I say.

And i was going to get nothing but grief from passengers too. Not so bad in pairs but it was very rare that both small cabs where buried in. Won't be missed. As a driver you knew at some point in the journey you had to drive from the shoebox cab at the other end.
There are some drivers who actually prefer the "new" cab of a dogbox. As a driver you knew at some point in the journey you had to drive from the shoebox cab at the other end.
How on earth did they manage that? Do they dump on the track or have they got sewage tanks? Even so, surely one of the basics for every train that goes to depot is empty the tanks and fill up the fresh water.1700 Up tonight (Norwich in 90) terminated at Ipswich and 1900 back cancelled because of no working toilets, even though it had just come off of Crown Point. 1700 down cancelled as well and 1810 reported as 7 vice 8, (I suppose it was only a matter of time that we got down to 7). Plus a whole host of 8 vice 12 EMU short forms in the evening peak on the GEML.

It's not always that easy with the depot in the upside down & often very busy state it is. Of course it shouldn't happen but increasingly IC sets are running around with very few working toilets. How on earth did they manage that? Do they dump on the track or have they got sewage tanks? In the cab!Where can I find these mythical creatures?
It's a very frightening thought. Counselling is always available.Where can I find these mythical creatures?
What are desperate passngers supposed to do when there are no working lavatories? Relieve themselves on the floor? It's not always that easy with the depot in the upside down & often very busy state it is. It's why guards have refused the sets & trains cancelled. It has come to that several times. Increased station stops have also occurred allowing said passengers some relief. What are desperate passngers supposed to do when there are no working lavatories? Relieve themselves on the floor?

No point making it prohibitively expensive as that won't help it run. It does cost the TOCs a fair amount to cancel. Not the greatest advert for crown point.. It amazes me that cancelling trains doesn't appear to be prohibitively expensive
Well that's good, all we need is another ~10 by Jan 1st. Oh and amongst other things, completion of all staff training and route/minor station clearances. With 16 x 755/4 and 1 755/3 accepted for service it shouldn’t be a total disaster tomorrow.

Tonight’s fun and games on the Breckland line. Signal failure (again) 17:05 Norwich to Cambridge terminated at Attleborough and eventually sent back to Norwich (via Eccles Road x-over?) Train full with London passengers avoiding the engineering works and bus replacement on the Colchester route.
Passengers then advised to seek alternate transport, (this is rural Norfolk there’s not much alternative transport on any day let alone a winter Sunday evening!) or to speak to staff? Even GA’s website acknowledges that it is an unstaffed station with few facilities! Rail replacement buses not an easy task and turning out to be difficult to source, so the alternative offered is wait for the 22:22 (the last train) which is expected to run which get to Cambridge in time for the last train to London KX arriving just before 01:00.
I’m sure the staff on the ground are trying their best but have we reached a point on certain sections of the network (see also TPEs current debacle) where the capability to run an acceptable level of service has been lost?
Those points have always been a pain for reliability. One even derailed on them just before resignalling. S&T never seem close to attend either.Additional 1K87 went to Thetford, crossed over and the points decided they'd had enough of life and wouldn't go back to allow normal running. Complete farce.
Difficult for EMR too. IR76 81L ex Norwich, 91L leaving Thetford. Expected Nottingham around 00.49Additional 1K87 went to Thetford, crossed over and the points decided they'd had enough of life and wouldn't go back to allow normal running. Complete farce.
To all staff and passengers I will certainly second that.Good luck tomorrow, all.
Good luck tomorrow, all.
