Does anyone know if signalling school did resume yesterday as was implied at the back end of last week?
How are they managing to do it?Yh it's back on
I believe it's dependant on the box you're in!I dont suppose anyone has a rota for 8hr shift patterns they can share?
How are they managing to do it?
Are the hotels still open then? I'd have thought that might be a sticking point.Hand sanitizers, gloves, masks and reduced class size
Very nice.Hand sanitizers, gloves, masks and reduced class size

This is good news, at least school still goes ahead and I’m sure safety is strictly monitored / adhered to.Still open
If you don’t apply you won’t get a signaller position for more than 6 months, given how slowly the HR process moves. If you do apply you might get an interview with your current test score. I think some LOM only interview the top test scorers and others take into account CV and test score? So i applied for a position and got the dreaded email i didnt reach the required standard in the test so is it worth me applying for anymore positions for 6 months till i can do it again?
Ok thanks, ill keep applying as they come upIf you don’t apply you won’t get a signaller position for more than 6 months, given how slowly the HR process moves. In this thread recently LOM said the hiring manager doesn't even see the actual score, just whether we have passed or failedI think some LOM only interview the top test scorers and others take into account CV and test score?

How do you mean?Yes we cannot see the SHL test score but we do get the question/answer scores.
Is it true you can ask HR for the top 5 scores to be selected to interview?Yes we cannot see the SHL test score but we do get the question/answer scores.
The hiring manager only sees the score for the 70 questions. All we know about the SHL tests is whether the candidates have reached the benchmark or not. I do not know what the benchmark is.How do you mean?
Yes.Is it true you can ask HR for the top 5 scores to be selected to interview?
No signallers will be furloughed even with a reduced service in operation. Some areas are really struggling for signalling staff availability and are already using contingency measures. Other areas are doing ok for now.For those currently working as Signallers I'm curious as to what impact the virus situation has had on your day to day jobs. For example, is there enough work to keep people in jobs? I ask because my sister works in Air Traffic Control where staff are now being furlouged and I wonder if this is likely to happen to Signallers too?

How do they score the questions? I assume that's the questions that you do as part of the initial application or is it another test after the 3 assessments?

I was told i could email and ask for them but they stay on file for 6 mobths at which point i can email asking them.to wipe them so i can retake it on the next application. Will letyoi know what results i get back and what they sendI'd be interested to know this too!! Do you know if you can ask for those scores?
My husband is a signaller and works a doubled manned box on a mix of 12 and 8 hr shifts. They've just stopped double manning and those on 8 hr shifts don't go into work, those on 12 hrs do. No difference in salary though, he's being paid as if he was there, thank goodness! For those currently working as Signallers I'm curious as to what impact the virus situation has had on your day to day jobs. I bet the 12 guys are happy with that!My husband is a signaller and works a doubled manned box on a mix of 12 and 8 hr shifts. Well it's swings and roundabouts - they all do 12 and 8 hrs. Hubby's off at the moment but has just finished a week of 12 hrsI bet the 12 guys are happy with that!
Ahh.. it sounded like their was a group expected to work (12 hr guys) and a group paid to be off, rather than the same guys doing a random mix of shifts. So it sounds like they will likely all get round to an 8hr shift where they will be off.Well it's swings and roundabouts - they all do 12 and 8 hrs.
