For those wondering what's happening I will explain based on how other TOCs work.

If you received a "fail" email. It doesn't take much explaining you failed to hit the pass benchmark for the phone interview.

Those that have a "well done" email are the top scorers out of everyone. They will be progressing the tops scorers first (probs based on tests + interviews) these will move onto the next stage.

Those have have heard nothing have likely passed the tests and are in the pool but didnt get good enough scores to make the first cut.

As the tops scorers progress and some fail they will contact those in the pool in batches (best scorers first) to progress and keep the numbers going through until they fill the positions.

This is all assumptions based on how other TOCs have done it.

It's very unlikely they are emailing people alphabetically or based on interview date.
great advice

thank you

If you havnt heard anything yet I'd take it as an good thing, you have very likely passed and are now in the queue based on you scores.

Hope this helps.

Ah well that’s annoying but fair. I think I was in the same position with TPE when I applied there, didn’t get any kind of email then 4 weeks later they emailed to say the positions have Been filled. Well done to those who made the first cut!

But surely there’s a cut off? Or is it a case potentially never hearing back?

Look at my post above yours mate. They sometimes email you weeks later once the positions have all been filled and let you know then.

Yes we must have posted at the same time mate as I didn’t see yours.
No worries pal. I do wish they just sent an email stating this but I guess they can’t give too much away of their recruitment process and tell everyone everything as there’s so many applicants.

You are all getting wound up over pure speculation and assumption. Just be patient. Trust me. It does you no good guessing what a TOC is doing in terms of recruitment. I went through this process and I speak from experience. There is no point trying to second guess what is going on. Just be patient, try to put it out of your mind and wait for an email.

For those that have heard they are successful, was there any mention on when they would next hear anything or any mention of practice material for psychometric testing?

I applied for KGX, interviewed 31/03, heard back yesterday that I had passed the phone interview. Due to my maths qualification not being a straightforward GCSE pass and part of my college course years ago, I'm not expecting to progress any further but haven't heard anything back since sending certificates yesterday afternoon.
Good luck to all those still waiting.

I applied for KGX and had my telephone interview on 07/04 - I heard back yesterday and was told I am progressing to the next stage.

I sent off my certificates today and have just received a reply stating: "We’re having to rejig all of our plans to keep in line with government guidelines and social distancing. As soon as its confirmed, we’ll be in touch soon with next steps"

Applied for Leeds, got well done email yesterday and acknowledgement of GCSE certificates 10 minutes ago saying they will be in touch soon with the next steps.

Telephone interview was the 6th of April.

Did anyone else just get an email from LNER and have their heart jump out of their chest?

Only for it to be a marketing email.

That was scary!

Had my interview on 31st March. Not heard anything yet. No news is good news at this point.

Well done to everyone who has passed. People who haven’t, keep your head up and keep trying. LNER is the most coveted TOC to work for and therefore probably the most competitive within a really competitive industry.

I applied for Leeds too. Had my interview on 2 April. Not heard anything yet.

On the subject of certificates... I'll have to request new ones as I've no idea where mine are a few decades I received them. It does baffle me that we've managed to reach the 21st century without things like this being stored electronically on Government Gateway or somewhere similar.

Same - not needed them for 20 years and no idea where they are! Some of The exam boards also aren’t issuing replacements pre 2001 currently either so not sure what will happen if we can’t get the replacement.

I think the pre 2001 is for key worker checks in the current situation. When the service reopens it goes back to the 1960’s !

Has anyone from Leeds heard back yet? If so how did you get on ?

Hi :) I live in Leeds and so Leeds would be my first choice, but I don't remember being given a chance to indicate a preference when I submitted my application. Have you specified Leeds and how do you do that?

I have got through the interview stage and submitted my GCSE certificate today. :E

The interviewer asked me which depot I was applying for. Doncaster is closer but I can also get to Leeds so she put me down for both.
I have submitted all my qualifications although they were done as part of other courses so I am waiting to hear back if the apprenticeship team will except them

Hi, one of the original questions was that you must live one hour commute from a depot and your depot of choice, you presumably entered Leeds, but you must have entered something or it would have been highlighted. This should have been confirmed at the telephone interview stage but don’t worry that it wasn’t. Congratulations by the way and best of luck for the next stage!
