Class 50

I am curious about 50007 and 50049 which have both been transferred to the Colas CFOL pool (Colas class 50 pool in essence). They have both spent a period of time at Eastleigh but are now showing back at Kidderminster on the SVR and as they are both in GB livery, I was wondering if their trip to Eastleigh had been for cosmetic reasons or are Colas going to return the favour and run them in GB colours as GB are doing the reverse with some of their 60's?

On a slightly more important point than the paintwork, does anyone have any idea what Colas have planned for these?

Wasn't aware that COLAS had taken the 50s on, have they been purchased or are they hiring them now? GBRF used them mainly for stock moves and route learning (including XC route learning for Derby remodelling). Wonder if COLAS has won similar work or are going to use them on test trains?

I think you'll find that CFOL is not a Colas pool, rather it's Class 50 Operations Ltd Locomotives

It was reported on WNXX about a month ago that the main gen is away being repaired

Railcam seems to think it was due to be a 50, but didn't seem to run in the end

Could well be another 1+1=3 job of course, RTT has a 1043 Leicester - Chaddesden - Leicester STP in for tomorrow


*Updated this morning* - the 1043 departure is now carrying an 0Z50 headcode

Looks like the move has hit some issues - currently sitting in one of the loops at Bletchley having been there since about 14.10.

50008 due to continue its journey today with a change of partner, 60029 on 1220 0Z60 from Willesden

Thunderer finally made it to Eastleigh yesterday courtesy of 60029, there are some good photos on the Hanson & Hall facebook page of the loco in the shed after its arrival and on Flickr of its trip down, states on the H&H facebook that work is to start next week while it's been mentioned/rumoured elsewhere that a new coat of paint is on the agenda
