That’s a bit worrying about the cancellation in such a rural location. I’m meant to be heading up there soon also…
From one rural location to another…

Next...

I have made it a bit easier by showing two photographs from the same spot looking in opposite directions.

At 2030 hrs Monday 26 July still no-one has made any guesses so here are some clues in photo no. 090-
1. On the right is the stop sign which states HST and underneath 6 cars. HSTs are still running on this line formed of 6 vehicles- 2 power cars and 4 passenger coaches.
2. in the centre is an upper quadrant semaphore signal.
3. the two lines through the station merge into a single line in the distance.

So where on Network Rail will you see 4 car HSTs on single lines signalled by upper quadrant semaphore signals..?

Correct- well done.
I did not think that anyone was going to get it.........!!!
Taken on my recent trip to Scotland from which forum readers in this quiz also identified photos of Arbroath and Thurso.

Surprised nobody guessed it given all the clues you gave.

Anyway here is the next one:

Nice pic. Looks like a rollercoaster off to the right! o_O
Thanks, yes the Wimbledon to Sutton link, opened by the Southern in 1930 was a line definitely built for electric traction due to the gradients and curves (having said that they used a steam loco to iron out the tracks and ballast when it was first built). The gradient and curves on the section from Sutton to West Sutton that you can see drop away in the picture used to be bordered by fresh white high concrete walls (now weathered and faded) and railwaymen nicknamed it "The Wall of Death" after the fairground ride of the same name.

Yes as an old railwayman I knew the Wimbledon line as the "Wall of Death" due to its sharp gradients and curves.

...Open floor....
