The current timetable is only temporary & even then there are plenty of drivers working their free days at mine & other depots. Another trainee drivers course starts next month so training will now

Anyone else heard anything?
Congratulations!

How did it go? Or have you not got around to it yet?

Oh no! These applications are removed so quick. Unfortunately I have also been unable to apply for so many previous posts. Head up, I'm sure more will be dropping soon!!

It's always worth checking the link in the few days after the original post. Ice noticed a few reopen a day or two after they close. I missed the LNER one first time round, 2 days later it was back up

Does anyone have experience of working at Ilford depot? It’s the closest to where I live, but I could also realistically get to a depot outside of London if it’s better work. I know the majority of GA metro work has already transferred to London Overground so maybe it isn’t as bad as other TOCs.

It seems a good little depot to be fair. Southend, Southminster, Braintree, Harwich and Ipswich.

From memory, that's all we had to do in 2019 too. Then assessment centres were offered to the lucky few.

I'm pretty sure these vacancies are just to refill the now expired talent pool. GA have recently cut alot of services and a friend said a lot of depots are massively over staffed.
Your correct....These jobs are for a talent pool so they can pick off applications when needed. Most depots have their quota of drivers, so the add is miss leading in some respect.

I've been told that they are also going to advertise for qualified drivers soon, these will also be put into a talent pool. Though a massive drop in salary, I have a depot within a 5 min drive, so would consider it myself, instead of the commute to London.

What’s the progression like with GA, is it as soon as you qualify you become a qualified driver (and thus on the salary of one) or do you have to wait and apply to move to the qualified part of the role?

Once you become a qualified driver (mainline) you remain on a qualified salary for one year which falls somewhere between the advertised salary (which is actually the training salary) and the full whack which is approx 52-54k depending on where you go (so somwhere in the 40s) None of the depots have the same T&Cs and salaries. GA is made up of ex West Angla, Great Eastern and Anglia contracts which all have their own seperate set of working practices/salaries T&Cs.

Depot drivers remain depot drivers. The progression to mainline used to be a given but they’ve tried to split the role completely now.

Ok, cool, thanks. So for trainee mainline drivers you'd be on the trainee wage to start with and once passed and qualified it would go up to 52-54k?

What's it like at Ipswich? I live right between the 3 so all are within a reasonable distance for me

Hi mate.
I’m just about to complete my 1st year solo with GA Ipswich. As a depot, it’s great. Great colleagues with a good variety of routes to sign.
