Interesting that 541 is still intact. It's been there since December, hasn't it?

Perhaps they are reluctant to scrap it given its history as the last unit built at York, but I doubt the contract with Eversholt allows that!

I do generally agree, however the market for airline memorabilia from recently retired iconic machines has been staggering, with prices for even simple parts being customised running to hundreds.
Good luck to whoever makes a railway equivalent of Plane Reclaimers!

This is something that’s bugged me for a while, the Airline and Marine industry seems to make a fortune from upcycling an aircraft or vessel once’s it’s main our pride has been for-filed, but the rail industry continues its stance of throw it in the bin. Don’t get me wrong, it still probably is a niche market, but a growing one at that - I’m certainly not suggesting all units be stripped, but say at least one? You only have to look at the relationship between Raxstar and Arlington to see bits of units scrapped at Eastleigh appear on EBay (and some of the prices they sell at!), or how much bits from FGW & EMR Mk3s sell for, to see it can be done.

Anyway, this is wildly drifting off topic.

I too wondered about 541 - I wonder if someone else has stepped in at the last minute to save it? It wouldn’t be the first time something has been saved from the cutters torch at the last hour!

Is 365529 still intact out of interest? That unit arrived shortly after 541 did back in December

I think that's 506. I think? Probably 536?

I guess This is it then? the final 365 to go to scrap.

Good morning train has departed from Belmont according to live record and www.realtimetrains.co.uk around 46 minutes late. However it could pick up time later on in its journey.
However could it possibly be the final x2 365 from Belmont?

Could well be if no other paths are in place this week? Will be able to confirm when it passes me shortly

EDIT: Never mind, just seen above post!

5Q76 went into Platform 3 at Newark North Gate with reported brake issues. The loco ran round and the consist returned to Belmont. Guess 365536 decided it didn’t want to go for scrap

How many 365's are left at Belmont? Thought I saw at least 4 when I went past

Just passing Doncaster and note that one of the two class 365 units still has its 'pan' up

Were it not for the unelectrified spur at Acton an EMU like a 365 could travel from Doncaster to Newport (ignoring entry into SIMS) on its own power with the right drivers. In this hypothetical scenario they wouldn't be the first units to drive themselves to their own grave.

In theory there is an electrified route all the way, by virtue of Crossrail. Of course there's as much a chance of a scrap move using it as winning the lottery!

I recall reading that a number of 142s were self-moved.

Another issue would be 365 traction training, the ROG drivers for the move.
For example, due to further issues involving the trainers to train the ROG drivers they’ll likely have the relevant traction knowledge anyway, however in the last couple or so months in operation very few GTR drivers signed them anyway.

Yes. However with the 142 moves. The reqular rog drivers ie rail operations group drivers who did the moves was ex northern drivers or drivers in the past who originally signed the 142 units and went on traction refresher courses for the moves. However I do believe that the rail operations group drivers had these dedicated drivers for the moves themselves. However with the 365 this wasn't possible due to traction knowledge from the rail operations group drivers themselves or with the people to train them.
