That’s interesting it’s running. Avanti staff are refusing to work the refurbished sets due to having no training on them

Are they just concentrating on the 11 car sets at the moment?
Yes, the 35 11-car trains will be refurbished first followed by the 21 9-car trains. One vehicle in the 11-car train is converted from First to Standard hence the priority for completing these before the 9-cars.

There was something on this thread about this, something about TM management working them.
What do they want training on? How to explain to passengers about the new seats and plugs?
The only thing that has really changed is the shop. We have speculated on this thread that it is microwave oven training!

Passcoms have been moved around too, plus little internal changes.

The very least you’d expect if you were being moved office is a quick pre-move orientation visit. Avanti not giving staff any hands on with the refurbs is pretty bloody stupid especially when they’re already at loggerheads with the unions.

Spotted 390123 in Piccadilly today with a rather large ‘(1)’ label scars from the former 1st class vinyl stickers that adorned the window pillars of the former first class now standard carriage

FFS, do they need a script to describe the new colour of the seats?
If safety equipment has been relocated its will be a requirement under traction training to know where it is now located

Purely anecdotal feedback, but the wife ended up on the 2139 from Euston tonight (one of the refurbished sets, it turned out). Feedback was as follows:

1) "Tables and seats all having power points is good."
2) "Why are the toilets and doorways still in Virgin colours? Looks unfinished."

Now she's no railway nerd (far from it!), but her comment about the loos / doorways still being in what seems like Virgin branding says a lot!

390 123 is out and running today it’s formed the 08:36 Glasgow to London and will then form the 14:07 Euston to lime street

RTT shows 390138 on the 0737 GLC-EUS, presumably a data input error?

Or should it be the 0836 GLC-EUS, which RTT does show 123 on?

Yeah that’s the one I meant. There’s no sign of 390 125 from what I’ve checked so it must still be in longsight

Thanks, not the first time RTT has had the wrong data producing erroneous displayed allocations.

Yeah it's on the 8.36 today, goes Liverpool afterwards and then the 19.40 Euston to Manchester

Nowhere near enough to a Pacer :(
How much fleet slack is there are in other words how many 390 can be off at once for the refurbishment? I know it's going to take a couple of years to get round them all

Other question, with the removal of the large fridges in the on-board shop, has this resulted in an overall reduction in the amount of fridge and chilling capacity on board or are the new fridges just as large

Significantly smaller. It’s more like a mini deli counter now so you can’t even pick your own items and have to tell the person behind the counter what you’d like from the display.

I’ve always wondered how many people thieve from the (old) shop!
I’d imagine it is slightly difficult, as all journeys I was on there was always a catering host in the immediate vicinity, whether it be sitting down or on the counter.

There have been times though where a catering staff member boards later on, and the TM stocks up and does revenue. I’d imagine that makes it easier to thieve.

But when it’s moderately busy they can’t see what‘s going on.

Presumably to reduce theft, but it would also mean less stock.
When your attempt to order a bacon buttie before Edge Hill (on a morning departure from Lime St.), fails because "they've already sold out", that beggars belief!

True story, the host said they only loaded about 20 at Lime St., pathetic on a Saturday morning train when there's lots going to the footie in London, (I'm not a red or a blue).
