Hi Guys
Trying to locate the timings for this tour. RTT is helpful as ever (sarcasm), only having released the Fawley to Southampton leg https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:U66209/2022-07-16/detailed

Does anyone know why the rest of the tour hasnt been uploaded yet? Even better, can someone upload the timings here please? :)

Best, Train Maniac
It probably hasn't been published by NR yet. Not all schedules for a given tour are necessarily completed on the same day.

I find RTT really helpful - no sarcasm from me...
Sorry, that was a bit harsh. For day to day workings and timetable shortcuts, absolutely i agree.

On the other hand, Ads constantly getting in the way and Railtours being uploaded (sometimes) the night before they are due to run are a right pain in the backside. The latter especially so, as it makes planning my adventures very difficult.

@Watershed Fair enough, Patience has never been a strong point of mine Haha...

That has nothing to do with RTT. It is when Network Rail upload the data.
OK. Out of curiosity, why is there a delay between timings being confirmed on UK Railtours and the data being uploaded to RTT? I would of thought it would be done at the same time?

It was explained by the organiser on the wnxx forum that there are still some points of detail to sign off on the main part of the tour but the start and end times are confirmed.

He wrote there:
A few final GLAs are still outstanding so I can’t see the RTT timings being released until they are issued (or declined). It would be unwise to make any assumptions on the finer details of the route until all i’s have been dotted and t’s crossed.

Because UKRT receive the timings directly from the train operator (GBRf in this case) as soon as Network Rail release the schedule. Whereas the open data sites only receive a daily update of schedules in the small hours of each morning, and sometimes it can take an extra day for changes to filter through.

Railtours can have delayed publication for a number of reasons. NR like to get the schedules in the system as early as possible, as it reduces the risk of planners going round in circles with each other as different TOCs chase last minute capacity. If they're withholding the times it usually means somebody on the operational side is concerned about the safe operation of the tour, although it can be due to concerns about trespass, station access, Operator issues (drivers, etc) or Commercial concerns.

Given RTT is free to use, it's not like you're paying for it so if you dont like it dont use it. I for one am incredibly grateful for it.

there seems to be a lot about rtt lately, on facebook anyway, the problem that ive encountered it it dosnt always update for at least half an hour if a train has left yet or not, which isnt great if your only a few stops away

anyway back to this tour, keep an eye out for the timings ;)

Again, that is most likely going to be the data feed. Do you have some examples?

Generally this would only happen if there are limitations in the live running data, e.g. Absolute Block signalling (where data depends on the signaller entering passing times into TRUST).

Ah Hah!! Thankyou very much!
Interesting that its the SWML portion of the trip that is proving the problem, i would of thought it would be Ludgershall. Using the confirmed departure from UKRT at 8:14 Waterloo you can get a rough idea of when it will get to Southampton. Hoping to get some shots on the Fawley branch at Marchwood, will post them here tomorrow night.

Thanks again 3973EXL :)

I can confirm that this charter won’t now be doing Marchwood to Fawley as signalling cable has been stolen affecting this section of line. It will now reverse at Marchwood.

Out of interest, why is the tour being top and tailed with a 69+66 combo? Wouldnt it be much more fun with a 69+69? :D

i wont go into specifics about rtt here as it will clog up the thread and is a bit off topic

the fawley line must be one of only a few places where some crossing gates are still opened/closed by hand and i think theres a big signal gantry at marchwwood that is still in use?

always thought it was a shame you coulnt go any further on turs than the refinery gates, as the station is inside the boundary

There's Manually handled gates on some of the Cumbrian Coast Level Crossings, and possibly the Tyne valley as well. The Signal Bracket (not ganty) at Marchwood is only 2 signals, it's not the most impressive structure.

Feel free to post in the dedicated thread, since it's always helpful to iron out any misunderstandings.
