Makes sense, I was just thinking along those lines.Between the signals ISTR it's only about 300m.

When you look at a train like this one (6M58 from Tytherington, Gloucestershire to Quainton), it appears to be routed to avoid big gradients. It managed to lose over 100 minutes after Westbury area so do wonder if having Didcot-Oxford shut means it would be better to double head it, so could keep time, especially on busy Chiltern line

1G95 wasn't booked to call at Princes Risborough. 1G55 following also not booked to call. Something else will soon I’m sure! 1T55 to Oxford will. You'd be seriously unimpressed if you were trying to get to Princes Risborough and sailed through ! Wonder why they didn't route services via platform 2 . Causes a bit of congestion but hardly matters at this point.
A very painful time to be a commuter in this part of the world
Probably because few trains (and crews) have gone down so can't go back up.Now there’s a huge queue of down trains having to go round 6M78 parked in Princes Risborough platform 3 but at least there are relatively few up trains to share platform 2 with.
Hopefully they can clear the queue relatively quickly for the 1Z99 that's currently near Denham Golf Club and is presumably on it's way to help 6M58.Now there’s a huge queue of down trains having to go round 6M78 parked in Princes Risborough platform 3 but at least there are relatively few up trains to share platform 2 with.
Although going in one direction or the other you could use another 120m or so of the opposite direction overlap at the back of the train as standage, as long as you don't need to reverse in the middle road.Between the signals ISTR it's only about 300m.
Yes, although you get ever so slightly more standage in one direction using 3, as it doesn't have the nearest crossover.Although going in one direction or the other you could use another 120m or so of the opposite direction overlap at the back of the train as standage, as long as you don't need to reverse in the middle road.
Well the rescue engine seems to have gone off towards Aylesbury.Hopefully they can clear the queue relatively quickly for the 1Z99 that's currently near Denham Golf Club and is presumably on it's way to help 6M58.
Indeed it does, my prediction was a bit off it seems!Well the rescue engine seems to have gone off towards Aylesbury.
Interestingly 4V41 is sitting north of Aylesbury running around 6 hours late......Indeed it does, my prediction was a bit off it seems!
Good point, I'd noticed a 0V41 earlier but 4V41 is off the edge of the OTT map so hadn't considered a 3rd (at least) failure today!Interestingly 4V41 is sitting north of Aylesbury running around 6 hours late......

Yes. I understand that GWR is contemplating shuttle rail services only for local traffic Radley<>Oxford and Culham<>Appleford<>Didcot. Don't know what they would do about Radley<>Culham.Maybe useful for local services, but the driving time (depending of course on traffic congestion) between Radley and Culham stations is not very much shorter than that between Oxford and Didcot (with a free-flowing A34, anyway), given the quality of roads to those more relatively remote stations, and the need to go through the often congested centre of Abingdon to travel between them
Judging by both it and 5Z03 "disappearing" from tracking at the previous junction, I would guess it was a wrong line workingThere have been rumours of a shuttle. I presume 5Z01 ran 'wrong line' from Hinksey to Radley.
In the previous video (see post #513) he explained they would put piling in upstream and downstream of the bridge, to create a temporary trestle structure that will support the bridge span while the abutment is rebuilt.I wonder how they're going to put piling in with the bridge in the way. Normally when you see videos of these piling machines they take up significant vertical space. Sounds tricky!
