Looks like it might be out again tomorrow, perhaps doing some more proving runs between Swansea and Cardiff.

That will be it yep.

Is 67022 still out of use?
It has now swapped sets at Canton and should be on HD07. Its planned it'll re-enter service on the diagram starting 1W13 tomorrow. That set doesn't register on Realtime trains so won't show an allocation!

The Mk4 set won't show, but the loco does (if you click to "Show train information").

67022 is indeed hauling 1W13, I'm sat on that service now.

It would certainly seem so as it has a driver allocated as well as the set, but as there is no path in yet I wouldn’t like to say for definite!
Okay. Thanks.

Has there been a path been put in yet please for the ECS move from Cardiff to Chester?

Normally when there's no guard it just runs in it's normal timetabled path and arrives in Chester early. They might not need to put a path in until the last minute.

It's called putting the customer first...
The worst bit is no train at the peak 1720 time from Cardiff towards Hereford.

Really not sure why the customer would care whether or not there's a path in the system for an ECS run they can't travel on anyway.

I can't remember with the 67 diagrams now if 1W96 uses a set that's been out all day or if it spends most of the day on Canton - if it's the latter it'll require prepping, and if there's no guard to work it there might not be a guard to prep it either - in which case it can't even run ECS. I'm not saying that's what happened, it's just one reason why they might have used a 175 from Chester instead of sending the 67 ECS from Cardiff.

It sits in Canton all day now! Formed off V33.

TfW journey check has been saying all day that the 17.14 Cardiff Central - Holyhead is starting at Chester due to a lack of driver.

Yes, it’s really quite bad at the moment.
It’s always bad. This is the same service that ran as empty coaching stock from Cardiff to Shrewsbury one day last week because the guard allocated had not been trained on Mk 4 coaches. So. all the passengers had to stand and watch their train depart without them on board!

Yes, I remember; I was the one who reported it on here as I watched it pull out empty!

From Monday 14th, the South Wales services from Manchester are booked to look like this, I believe:

0630 Cardiff Central (67+MK4)
0730 Carmarthen via Cardiff Central (15x or 175)
0830 Cardiff Central (67+MK4)
0930 Carmarthen via Cardiff Central (15x or 175)
1030 Cardiff Central (67+MK4)
1130 Carmarthen via Cardiff Central (15x or 175)
1230 Cardiff Central (67+MK4)
1330 Tenby via Cardiff Central (15x or 175)
1430 Cardiff Central (67+MK4)
1530 Carmarthen via Cardiff Central (15x or 175)
1630 Swansea via Cardiff Central (67+MK4)
1730 Cardiff Central (15x or 175)
1830 Cardiff Central (67+MK4)
1930 Cardiff Central (197)
2030 Cardiff Central (197)

But I believe the 0830 will most often be a Sprinter at present, as although it’s a MK4 service on paper I don’t believe enough sets are available at the moment.

Edit:

197001 will cover for an unavailable MK4 set on the full diagram starting 5am Holyhead Cardiff, which means it will then work to Manchester on the 1050. It will therefore be the first 197 on Cardiff Manchester.

The BOOKED 197s to Manchester (1550) look set to be swapped at late notice now, because they form from the 1030 Holyhead to Cardiff, which will terminate short at Chester today.

The plan is that 67017+HD02 go out on that diagram at 10:52 after it never went out on Friday with lack of Crew. However, it all depends on staffing at Canton last night/this morning as they were short which may lead to that not going out and possibly HD07 not either as that was due an exam/loco swap (022 off for 025) so time will tell.

Lo and behold, driver not trained on CAFs perhaps?
Definitely not as there's other parts on the diagrams with 197s so must be unit/maintenance related.

Back to Mk4s!
Due to exam requirements on HD01, 04 and 06 as its stands only 3 diagrams for the next few days. The Cardiff start tomorrow, Holyhead start Wednesday and the first one from Manchester on Thursday all being subbed for units unless things change in the meantime

More set swaps this afternoon. The 19:15 arrival at Man Picc which is 2x197 will split not split as booked, 19:30 will be a pair of 197s.

The 20:30 1V66 will be worked by 67014/HD04 as far as Crewe, and then a pair of 153s forward.

1W64 which is a 158+153x2 will detach at Crewe, leaving a pair of 153s at Crewe to work 1V66 back south.

1J76 22:32 from Piccadilly will be 67017/HD02 as far as Crewe, then swapped for a 150 to Shrewsbury.

Showing the nature of a diverse network our (TfW) controllers have to deal with!

Edited as even more swaps took place, with a 67/Mk4 set now working the 22:32 Picc - Shrewsbury as far as Crewe. Which will probably be welcome, with Manchester United playing at home.
