Good to see they are making it clearer that its first class as it always seems an issue, but did they really have to cover part of the windows for it, It blocks part of the view. I know it might be minor but the big windows were part of the experience now you get a worst view now in First class. Looks really tatty, should have at least gone with a smaller banner like the old BR one or like the crossCounty HST.

I agree there, the white is rather ugly too.

I don't think those headrest things look right, I didn't have an issue with the seats before and this looks like an inconvenience more than anything.

I saw an ex-GC set yesterday as I left Shrewsbury, noted the marking on the door but not the rest. The addition of curtains is an interesting feature, could well be useful. More so than those headrests anyway!

Morning folks. Probably (definitely) not the right thread for this question : but : currently travelling on the 10:30 MAN CDF (no idea of set number).

It's an amazing improvement, supremely comfortable : but I am struggling to find power sockets anywhere, although these are advertised.

Any ideas?

You must be in the SV (buffet car) no sockets in there but all the other coaches have them.

67022, the long term Bangor resident is planned to go onto HD07 tomorrow night at Canton to replace 025 and enter service on the Cardiff start diagram (currently 1W13/1V39) on Thursday. As long as all goes to plan will be its first time on a passenger rake in about 6 months.

Things can change but that's what's intended!!

Amazing thanks! This has become a nightmare to get, everytime I almost get it it’s cancelled (a bit like 175114 all those years ago ) Will be great to have the 67s completed at long last.

Possibly a daft question.

How likely are these to be cl.67s and LHCS

Saturday 7th Oct 2023
1W91 10:24 Chester to Holyhead
1V97 12:37 Holyhead to Chester.

Almost certainly not. The only Booked Holyheads are the 05:33 from Holyhead and the 17:14 back on weekdays.

No it doesn't. Just had a look and there was a Driver shortage overnight on Canton to do the swap.
Don't get my hopes up like that, you know I can't wait to see the back of 025, gives no end of trouble

025's always got me reliably to where I need to be so I have no complaints!! I'm sure drivers have a better perception though!

There's been a change of plan and that 025 is staying on now after having its exam during the day. It'll now head out on the evening Holyhead with 022 remaining at Canton as the South Rescue & Recovery loco.

To be fair at least 025 isn't out either so you're still safe
It's waiting for me tomorrow, I can feel it :D

To be fair it's a lot better than it used to be. They've fixed most of the issues thankfully! And it's always been pretty quick.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to transport bulky items in the DVT on these services?

As long as you can get it in there yourself you would be OK l, just speak to the Guard when the train arrives.

There's only 2 diagrams running at the moment so Worth checking before you want to go!

Does anyone know why so few MK4s are out at the minute? I am booked on the 12:49 off Cardiff to Manchester one day next week. What is the chances of this being a MK4? It's diagrammed to be but doesn't seem to ever be an MK4.

Availability has been woeful since the Dinmore block, really not helped by 2 sets needing tyre turning and 2 67s were found to have bogie pivot cracks, both of the sets are now ready and the locos should head back tomorrow.

Currently HD01, 02 and 03 are all loco-less.

HD04 which has been on tyre turning is now back in service

HD05 is on a heavy exam at Crewe

HD06 is undergoing tyre turning at Canton but should reenter service on Wednesday

HD07 is in service.

Tomorrow 67014 is due to head to Holyhead to go on HD01 which should then head to Crewe at some point to re-enter service and 67022 is due to head to Landore to go on HD03, at this point it's just to take it to Canton to free up space at Landore

Edited to remove diagrams as they've changed so are incorrect.

Even with 2 sets coming back in through the week, I think the chances of my 12:49 being an MK4 is slipping. Issue is I'd be paying out so much money for the journey and if it's not an MK4, it's about £100 wasted and I can't find out on the day as I need a hotel the night before.
