I only had a Intention to Offer email. The offical is yet to come. They only asked for my employment capture history and right to work(i.e. NI)
Ok, then an offer is likely to happen in the near future. For me it was 6 weeks between interview and offer, so you're doing well if it's only been a couple of weeks since your assessment day.

All you can do now is sit tight and wait for a phonecall.

Just seen this advertised on Indeed:

https://uk.indeed.com/viewjob?jk=5b22a9d6f312e247 - when you click apply now it doesn’t take you through to the NR career hub but what appears to be a third party website.

Posted here to open discussion on if it’s genuine or not.

If genuine, they’re looking for grade 7, 8 & 9 signallers in Glasgow.

It not the correct place, please move/delete.

I was going to ask the exact same. I can’t make my mind up whether it’s genuine or not.

I’ve emailed Network Rail recruitment and asked if it’s genuine, and if so, how would it work with carrying over banked test passes if it’s on a different recruitment platform etc.

Could that be an internal vacancy accidentally advertised externally? I thought G9 signallers were on 52.8K basic? Was there a pay rise?

Mainly cause they're been absolutely horrible at back filing roles. There are loads of vacancies at TBROC. Mainly on the grade 6 panel (ESWS) and Streatham (G7) link (which a new panel is joining in February)
I noticed that too is it a hard one to work on?

Yeah they are. The lesser amount is while you’re training at signal school G2 so I assume the advertisement is correct

Hey guys, still waiting for a interview decision. Been told I'd get one from the 11th. Anyone that's had theirs, did they call or email?

Cheers

Had my interview today, as others have said, it's a very relaxed experience. I was a little nervy at the start however you do end up shaking those darn nerves off. I feel pretty good about my performance, I think some of my answers could have done with a little more impact, but on the whole I feel positive. They made a comment that I clearly have a lot of knowledge about the role so I'm hoping that will put me in good standing. I also recommend reaching out to HR to arrange to visit a box. They seemed to really appreciate that effort.

Finally been given a start date for grade 2 (trainee) colchester areas, I start 03/01 and my IST begins 08/01 however they still haven’t said a location. Is anyone else likely to be on the same time frame as I am?

Depends what course you are on.
There's an AB course in Ipswich starting on 08/01

Hi, was this the Grade 2 trainee Cupar, Tayside etc role? If so, did they tell you timescale for hearing back? I had my interview on Tuesday

Are you a pool signaller then if you’ve not been given a location yet?
Might need to be applying for locations during IST

I'm starting as a pool signaller but there's only a few boxes within an hour of where I live. Are the position applications similar 5o the initial signaller application, with interview etc. - how does that work?

I’m not 100% sure, I’d recommend checking your contract and speaking to HR

I can't say for every area or how easy it is to do, I can only talk from my own experience. It was impressed apon us quite early how many avenues there are for progression within Network Rail, although it will very much depend on what you are looking for.

I would hazard a guess though that you will not be a Grade 2 after passing the course. Positions are offered now, as I understand it, as a Grade 2 trainee position within a geographical area. During training you will then apply for the actual positions within that geographical area, which could be any Grade depending on the boxes and what positions they require filling.

As for progression beyond that, if you're after the most money then I would assume the highest grade jobs in Scotland would be in Glasgow. More locally if a higher grade box isn't your thing then quite a few Signallers seem to move on to being a Mobile Operations Manager, or a LOM beyond that. The Operations side of NWR very much seems to be your Oyster if you have the desire to progress, however I'm sure many of the more experienced heads in this thread will say that it's not necessarily as simple as it is made out to be.
Thanks for the info, mate.

Appreciate it!

Do you have official start date etc. I have passed medical last week but not heard anything back.
They said the 8th Jan 24 over the phone, but I have had no other confirmation. Hope his helps, bud.

Likelihood is it will be Ipswich if you’re going to Colchester. There is a VDU and NX course also running there from the 8th Jan.

Yes I’m a pool signaller, so I believe that may be the case. However there is quite a limited number of boxes within an hour from my location.

That seems quite likely in that case, Thank you for the information.

Can anyone tell me the shift pattern at Fouldubs? Was thrilled to be offered the post based there today. This forum has been really helpful and informative during my application journey

Interesting, I had my email from HR the day after my medical confirming my employee number and start date of 03/01/24, but nothing from operations.
Hi Andy,
We are going to the same place, starting the same day and going to IST together. I've got some info that will be helpful. Not sure if you can PM on here yet?
