Funny old game, I don't know what David Moyes said @ half time but West Ham came out a different team and won 2-1, both goals thanks to sloppy Spurs defending. 3rd home game in a row that Spurs have lost, the natives are getting restless.

Apparently the first team in the premier league era to go 1-0 up in five successive games and not win any of them

Coventry beat Birmingham 2-0 in a dour midlands derby, that wouldn't do anything for Wayne Rooney's career prospects.
Callum O'Hare got both goals and but for the Birmingham keeper, Coventry would have won by more.
A game to quickly forget.

There’s been the suggestion that regardless of the result, the Euros next year will be Southgate’s last tournament. 8 years is a reasonable length of time in charge.
But there's not a current vacancy.

we have a good England manager - i know he isn't popular with the PL plastics, talksport zombies and the FIFA boys but he seems a decent chap and will do for me.
I don't disagree with you, if you look at the last 10 years since he became the technical director at the FA then worked with the u21 and full team GS has done a fantastic job for England and English football in general.

GS was instrumental in the EPPP programme, the England DNA concept and has significantly improved the standing of the national team.

However, that doesn't mean that we can't recognise that on a couple of key occasions he has not reacted with sufficient speed to get England across the line in key games.

In both the Croatia and Italy games we had the initiative and allowed it to be taken from us, part of that is down to the players and their performance but also his response to the change in the pattern of the game is questionable.

I don't blame him for the loss to France, England were the better side that night and you can't plan for your best player missing a last minute penalty.

Put it this way I think England have an outstanding chance in Germany, but with Emery as manager I am convinced they would win.

Anyway in the summer there is likely to be a vacancy at Man Utd, AC Milan and possibly even Madrid and I am sure they'd all be interested.

They've all had opportunities to get him before , he's already been a huge success in previous years. Emery didn't just appear in 2023.

I agree but the experience at PSG, in particular the capitulation in Camp Nou and the perception of him at Arsenal have probably counted against him.

I liked his work at Sevilla and Villareal but he's never be in the Madrid conversation before, in fact he probably won't be if Carlo leaves, far more likely to turn to Raul or Xabi Alonso.

He'd be a massive upgrade on ETH though.

I have an awful premonition.
Birmingham sack Rooney.
Stoke sack Alex Neil
Stoke employ Rooney

I hope it’s a bad dream…..
A third of the way to becoming a very bad dream as Neil has been dismissed at Stoke.

Another planet...
Early favorite is John Eustace.
Did okay at Birmingham considering it was obvious their new owners wanted to replace him with a "big name"... which they did, and look how that's going for them!

Colin is still available, though there seems to be a mutual dislike between him and Stoke. Could see John Terry going there, mind.

One thing is certain. Whoever gets the managers job, the club will come out with the statement ‘He’s the manager we’ve always wanted…..’ or words to that effect.

Considering Stoke have had nine managers since 2018 they appear to want anyone who’s available.

Turkish football bosses suspended all leagues after a referee (Halil Umut Meler) was punched to the ground by a club president following a top-flight game on Monday. Meler received several blows from others as he lay on the turf and suffered injuries including a minor fracture.

I hope all those involved are charge with assault and banned from football for life.

Sadly this was going to happen somewhere, at some point, and I'm quite surprised it's not happened in this country at professional levels given some of the vitriol directed at match officials by players, managers, other club officials, the media etc.

Sadly, and I speak from experience, the football authorities seem to now want to support their match officials when incidents occur by ensuring tough enough sanctions. Indeed, when I abandoned a game following multiple threats of assault, my county FA (Hertfordshire) refused to give me any backing, despite the managers of both sides giving evidence in the hearing that supported my report! Haven't refereed since, and as the club I used to be involved with also refused to take any action with regard to threats to match officials, I no longer attend football at any level. I just don't want to know anymore.

I'd have thought GS will make the decade if we do well next year. If we don't, 8 will be a good innings. The last couple of qualifiers have been rather unconvincing (I only watched one last month) however we are already through, so we can afford to take our feet off the gas a little until the tournament itself.

Interesting to see that when Bayern Munich get thumped, their and Harry Kane's name aren't up in lights all over the BBC website.
On Saturday they lost 5-1 away to Eintracht Frankfort and Harry didn't score, although he played for 90 minutes.
They're only second in the league, with Bayer 04 Leverkusen clear by 4 points with Bayern Munich having a game in hand.

The job Xabi Alonso has done at Leverkusen is remarkable, when he took over they were near the relegation zone, now leading with one of the best starts in years. It is no wonder he is being linked with big jobs like Real Madrid.

Greek Football clubs have been ordered to play behind closed doors until February in an attempt to reduce violence at games.
