33918 yet again has broken down on the motorway in Glasgow while attempting to return to Aberdeen from repaint at Caledonia Depot, this is now the third time this has happened.

63196 and 69123 departed King Street today, 63196 is destined for Bristol while 69123 is for scrap.

Wonder why it keeps breaking down?
It shouldn't be that it's mechanically not capable, Stagecoach use their E400s on rural and high speed services all the time!

The Glasgow E400s have had a lot of hill-climbing for routes before. So no wonder some of them might be a little knackered.

A number of buses have arrived on loan from Glasgow due to the Hydrogen pump failing again combined with poor Enviro400 availability, even before the pump failed services were being cancelled due to lack of vehicles. The vehicles that have arrived on loan are 33221, 33224, 33407, 33409, 34371, 67716, 67808 and 67811.

When the Hydrogen tanks were built was there not a back up pump not put in at the time?

The amount of issues the Hydrogen fleet is having are going to put off other operators/areas from investing in this area.

Aberdeen haven’t had much luck these past few years. In hein sight - the city wasn’t ready for Hydrogen or should I say not as many hydrogen buses.

The dead mileage some of these E400MMCs and E300s have put in to keep going back and forward between Aberdeen.

This surprises no one really.

Failings are expected of the group to some extent, let alone any local operation.

It's not that that city isn't ready for Hydrogen, the issues have been nothing to do with Hydrogen technology itself. Its just incompetence for those running it, it surely can't be a surprise to anyone that this is happening when you consider there's only one pump and its a decade old. Furthermore they ordered an additional 10 buses (bringing the total to 25) when they knew they only had capacity to refuel 18.

Aberdeen have been short on buses ever since fleet decisions moved higher up. It also doesn't help that buses are continuously being taken from the fleet without replacements, a perfect example of that right now are the Streetlites which are being withdrawn and transferred to Bristol despite the fact that their replacements (the return of more Streetdecks) is still yet to happen. Additionally the Enviro400s are proving significantly less reliable than the Enviro500s they replaced.

The 10 additional hydrogen buses were funded by the Scottish Government to make the new green hydrogen plant viable. There was really no need for them to come when they did anyway.

33919 has returned from repaint and is in the First Supoorting Pride livery.

63206 is the latest Streetlite to have transferred to Bristol (Hengrove Depot) despite the fact it only returned from repaint in to Aberdeen Urban livery last Wednesday.... You couldn't make these things up!

Nice to see the Pride livery on another model. I wonder if the plan is to have more done - a Streetdeck perhaps once they start getting fed properly

Virtually any route and it varies day to day ( that is one day a duty will have an electric bus and the next day a diesel bus), so no help really. They are supposed to be on the 12, 20 and 23 but that did not last long.

It would be good if Aberdeen tracked on bus times but sadly it hasn’t for quite a few months now.

Streetdeck 39703 finally returned from Wrightbus last night and is undergoing service prep, a second 19 branded example has been noted on the A90 near Brechin heading towards Aberdeen.

With the 1A and 20 returning to University Open timetable this week First Aberdeen have been cancelling services gain due to a lack of vehicles.

This can only be good news after years off the road. Are the rest of the batch due back or just a handful?

It is not that good news really, about half of the existing ones in Aberdeen have been out of service for some time, so they will just be replacing them at present (until they can be repaired).

Enviro400s 33683 and 33703 are currently making their way north from Manchester to Aberdeen.

Enviro300 67715 has also transferred from Glasgow to Aberdeen in the past week.

It is believed that the diesel fleet in Aberdeen is going to be standardised on Enviro300 and Enviro400s.

Interesting move on the E400s although wouldn’t it make more sense to just move the remaining E400s from Glasgow to join their sister buses?
