Does anyone know why Trentbarton's more recent deliveries have Yorkshire registrations? YY is issued in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

TB used to register their buses locally in Nottingham (Forest and Fens) The Scanias and Volvos, for example, had FJ registrations.
These days, vehicles are registered in the area where they're manufactured - YY would cover Scarborough - or where the importer is, if manufactured abroad. FJ would have been issued by the local Vehicle Registration Office, so presumably they were registered before the new rules came about.

all the ADLs Trent have had delivered have been YY** or YX**, I believe most stuff is registered at ADL now pre-delivery… not sure if that would affect what the start would be ?

Now registered by manufacturers. YX and YY are used by ADL (Scarborough) whilst BD for B8RLEs relates to Volvo Bus (Coventry?)

On the subject of the new Trentbarton Enviro 200MMCs. Given they have tinted windows, does that impair driver vision at locations where the driver might normally look further back than through the door opening? So many car drivers getting stopped for tinted windows now (and they have to remove those tints at the roadside). But then I wondered if they affected loading times at bus stops, as passengers boarding might not see passengers getting off. I wonder if drivers of buses in the bus station at Derby can actually see if passengers are inside (the other side of that tinted glass)?

I have had a few passengers get on the older B7s we use on the comets saying they prefer the tint free windows as its alot easier to see if anyone is trying to get off and stop that awkward stand off at the doors.
Coming from a drivers persepective i havent driven a bus with those kind of tints yet so will be intresting to see

It will indeed. At least Trentbarton never went down the line of contravision.

Off-topic, but why were these rules implemented?

There‘s no ‘rule’. You can still apply for a local registration. But generally now it is easier for operators to just let the manufacturer deal with the whole process, which will result (for example) in a Yorkshire or Scottish registration for ADL products depending on factory of build.

That was what I thought myself, many thanks!

Busy day for Derby today, 2 villagers, 2 comets, a swift & an X38 are currently at download, I’m a very happy veg having gotten shots of them along the runway.

The heavens opened once again so I’ve scarpered for the skylink back to Derby

Just guessing but I imagine the new buses are delivered by the manufacturer rather than Trentbarton sending drivers to collect them

If this is the case, letting the builder register them presumably eliminates the need for them to run on trade plates during delivery.

I am not sure about the last paragraph. Sure I have seen new buses with registration plates on, delivered with trade plates on.

It seems only the other day that Trentbarton would never run a branded bus on a different branded route. Maybe passengers are drifting away, due to perceived unreliability
On Thursday they put a Mickleover-branded vehicle (105 I'm fairly sure) on red arrow service. But that was because there were massive delays, plus there were very few buses on the route. They had put 494 on V3 last night too. Might be the start to a new side of trent.

If I’m honest, I like these “rare workings”, they add something extra to look for and photograph.

Honestly I just think it’s post-download shenanigans.

Maybe. Are they keeping busses down at download today for tonight? If so it would be smart to reduce mileage and reduce fuel waste. As well as be eco friendly.

Maybe the influence of recently appointed senior staff, at Director level.

At least in the evening you could say the V3 is an extension of the Harlequin so 494 was not to far off route.

Not to sure why but yesterday 6.1s had some variety for a Sunday with 269 & 712 amongst the usual Versa's on the route, surprising for a Sunday to be honest that a full compliment of Versa's couldn't be found.

I'd assume for the same reason as my explanation in post #205. A lot of buses couldn't be checked over as there weren't enough engineers on Saturday night, so I'm told

Yes, you could see that, by the way Trentbarton blamed a third party for Hugo and Live Times not working "It is not our fault". The good news was that users of Bustimes could see the buses were not running and could use alternatives. Blaming lack of engineers would the focus on TB.

no engineers were actually in on Saturday night resulting in 38 dead vehicles on Sunday morning, I feel for whoever had to deal with that mess.

Dead, as in wouldn't start or had faults? Maybe they have had to cut overtime or night rates. I guess it also impacted services on Monday too.

Hang on, 38 buses is a significant part of the Derby allocation. Maybe they took Hugo etc down so they could say they couldn't be tracked.
