Up to this game, had India won all their matches?
Yep, as have SA. Can't really grumble at the final lineup.
(Their game against Canada was rained off but can't blame them for that one!)

Couldn't agree more. This tournament has proved conclusively the stranglehold that BCCI have over world cricket. All competitions seem to be run to their wishes and always to fit in with the IPL. We should not be playing a world tournament in the Carribean at this time of year. The English domestic season is a mess, and we'll soon have the pointless Hundred upon us. 1st July in 2 days, and no sign of a test match. I can see a time coming when the other international teams are going to have to stand up to India, but no doubt the money will win out.

Thanks, in part, to one of those brilliant catches which would never even have been attempted in Richie Benaud's time in which the fielder (Suryakumar Yadav at long-off) throws the ball into the air, crosses the boundary line and comes back in again to catch it again.India have beaten South Africa by 7 runs to win the T20 WC.

Agree with you, but maybe it was in the stars that on this occasion Virat Kohli's class and brilliance won over after it wasn't to be in India last Autumn. He really did save his by far best performance for when it truly counted. One might say SA choked. Think it was down to a run a ball with four overs left? Fair play to the Indians for getting over the line. That catch as well….

Sharma, Kohli and Jadeja have all now retired from T20 cricket. Time for at least three England players to do so too.30 required from 30 after a superb Klaasen over, then he got out and they cramped up
I’m sure you’ll love to hear that the next 9 weeks of domestic cricket consist of the T20 Blast and The Hundred (and a second string 50 over cup)Time to retire T20 cricket, I say. I mean, it's a bit of fun, but it's now incessant, it doesn't seem to stop. I've breathed a sigh of relief that I might be able to watch better cricket now.

While in principle I couldn't agree with you more, the problem is that the genie is now well and truly out of the bottle - they are now selling off the Hundred teams with the promise of £5 million for each county and an increase in the annual 'sweetener' from £1.3 million to £2 million.Shortest form cricket isn’t going to disappear, let’s be realistic. I’d rather the game’s administrators found a better balance between the three forms of the game.
So:
1 - get rid of the Hundred, and pour the millions that were suddenly found to market it into a relaunched domestic t20 competition
2 - losing the Hundred removes the clash with the 50 over competition, which can then revert to being a full first team competition, and give it a Lord’s final again
3 - remember that the domestic four day competition is the proving ground for future test players and that without it we have nothing
4 - somehow prevent these pop-up t20 tournaments all over the world from leeching the best players. Perhaps central and county contracts could stipulate a maximum number of days players can play in external competitions

Don't forget his iconic 0 not out too!Jimmy Anderson playing for Lancashire in the time period prior to playing his last Test Match against the West Indies against Nottinghamshire had an excellent bowling return in the Nottinghamshire 1st innings....
16 - 3 - 35 - 7
Can see where you're coming from, but a few issues myself.Shortest form cricket isn’t going to disappear, let’s be realistic. I’d rather the game’s administrators found a better balance between the three forms of the game.

If any format has to be shunted around then I'd prefer it to be the 50 over game
Also, I'd say it's predominantly the likes of Lancashire, Yorkshire and Surrey who are weakened by these absences, which is all good with me
That's essentially why the County Championship was split into two divisions. In my opinion the core issue is that County Cricket isn’t high enough quality. It’s good, but not good enough to be reliably picking players for England from. Why? Because the schedule is too tight so the players can’t play at 100%, and because there are 18 counties. 18 counties with 2 overseas means 162 English players playing country cricket each week/round. How about, for half the season, cut that down to 8 teams with no overseas and it’s 88 proper quality players playing proper quality cricket and there’s England selection properly up for grabs
And given four days instead of three. That's essentially why the County Championship was split into two divisions.
Since Test Match cricket is a 5-day entity, having the County Championship as four rather than three day matches, that gives the players more idea what to expect in the longer-time matches. And given four days instead of three.
Think the biggest problem with the county game is how fragmented it is, four day games then 20/20 then back to four then 20/20 again then...nothing until September!!
Similar position for me as a Glamorgan fan. Nice to look at a competition with optimism for a change !If there's a World Cup in it, surely it's worth having a domestic competition that England team can play in to hone their skills? (I'm not aware of any other opportunities - I don't think there aren't franchise 50 over tournaments)
Well yes, a silver lining. And as a Leicestershire fan I do recognise us wining it last summer was in part because we lost fewer players than most counties (Ackermann and Callum Parkinson only from memory) to the crisps contest
I've always wondered if it would be worth having say 2 north v south (or east v west) games a year, or could even have a division 1 v division 2 gane i suppose. With a combination of the England selectors and representatives from the counties picking the sides. Force the England selectors to hear about and watch the best players that may not be in their minds. In my opinion the core issue is that County Cricket isn’t high enough quality. Yet some of the recent selections for seam bowlers (Robinson, Potts and Tongue for instance) came from counties in the Second Division, and the most recent example Pennington was playing for such a side untin this season, Let's not forget Rehan Ahmed, either. I'd say at present the two sides with least talent to be shown are Derbyshire and (much as it pains me to write this) Kent, one bottom of the 2nd Division and the other, deservedly. bottom of the 1st.That's essentially why the County Championship was split into two divisions.
So that system is actually already in place.
Now 548-8, Northeast out for 187. 45 runs to go!Quite remarkable game taking place at Cheltenham. When I looked at lunch on day 1 Glamorgan had Gloucester 88/8, that eventually became 179 all out, followed by 197 from glamorgans first innings.
Low scoring game on the horizon. Well.... fast forward to now, Glamorgan are 423/5 in their 2nd innings, chasing a world record 593 to win. It's a strange old game
Great game, ends in a tie with a wicket off the last ball. Quite ridiculous really !Now 548-8, Northeast out for 187. 45 runs to go!
