Still waiting for my screening checks to be returned, it is still in quality checks and has been for almost a month- has anyone else had any issue waiting for a long time for the checks to be completed? It says it can take up to 2 weeks- but it has been much longer than this.
When did you start the screening and when were you offered the role and which role? FT or PT?

Well I spoke to REED about this. The quality checks will only be completed when instructed to do so by TFL.

Those who are on top of the waiting list will have their quality checks done first. It seems like they are completing the screening based off who is on top of the waiting list which to be fair does make a lot of sense.

So I guess those who haven’t got their screening completed just yet, it’s due to you being quite far from the top of the waiting list.

does it not also depend if you’re going to be working FT or PT? I assumed that if you’ve applied for a FT role you’d get your referencing & checks done faster than somebody who applied for a PT role

Well I was under the assumption it’s just for those who applied for CSA2 which is full time anyways

Hi all,
I have passed the initial assessment and have been invited for the roleplay and interview stage.
Has anybody already done this?
What can I expect?
Do you have to work to company policy or is it just to see how you handle various scenarios in a general sense?
If you have to demonstrate knowledge of policy is there some resources I can access online.
Thanks.

By the intitial assessment do you mean the online test, or the first in-person test (map work etc.)?

I've done the in person test, maps grammar etc
They won't expect you to know all the knowledge, I can't give too much away- but in the role play, you'll be given a sheet with information you'll need to know, take your time- make sure you try your best to resolve the situation, ask questions for clarity before starting.

You will be asked to stay if you pass the role-play if you don't then you will be asked to leave.

For SBI- you'll get a random preselected scenario. Use the STAR method for this! Try and use skills/previous experience that might help you if the situation.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot,
I've got a handful of "experiences" to draw from as a cab driver of 26 years.
The fact they give you a sheet with everything you need to know helps a lot, I hoped this might be the case.
Just keep updating my invite page but nothing showing up at the moment.
Funny really as I know that as soon as a date drops in my heart rate will rocket lol.

Thanks again.

Hi Everyone! Was getting worried checking the timelines (from passing the test to actually starting training)RF members have posted. Was wondering if anyone can shed some light on how long will it actually take from the day of the interview (if one clears it) to the day you start training/start work! I saw some members have been waiting for years! Scary !

Hi there, quick question regarding Reed screening. I’ve been told that my references have been passed, DBS done etc., They are on quality checks now. Those who have passed this stage, how long did it take for the screening to be completed for you? I’ve applied for CSA2 FT.
Hi . @cacti please could you share the timeframe of from the time you applied for the job to interview to offer letter to screening to training dates . Please this could be really useful to gain some perspective of the timeframe. I have applied for FT CSA2 as well . Thanks

Hello, does anyone know the shift basis for the role?
ie how many days working per week - like a 4/5 on & 4 off basis?
As well as shift length… 8hrs/8.5/12 hr shifts?

Hi tanks,

Applied: 11/05/24

SBI: 1 month and 1 week later

Conditional offer letter: Within a week after SBI (3 days for me)

Screening completion: 7 weeks from receiving conditional offer.

I have not yet received any training/medical dates as they are currently working through those who applied in May.

Hope this helps.

Hi @cacti thanks for the insights. Very helpful. Does this timeline also depend on if the job is full time/part? My role is CSA2 full time . I have been given verbal confirmation that I have passed on the day of SBI . I also was wondering if they wait for people if they have 3 months notice period. Do you know how that works? Thanks again

Yes. Lots of companies require 3 months - including the Elizabeth Line, where a lot have jumped ship from recently. So TfL are definitely OK with it.

As far as I’m aware, yeah the timeline does depend on FT and PT.

FT will be processed faster

Roleplay and SBI is quite straightforward.

For the roleplay ensure that you introduce yourself, speak in a calm manner, understanding tone etc.

What I think really boosted me for my roleplay was being understanding and offering what I can help the customer with.

Ensure that you’re understanding but firm on TfL’s policies.

The SBI too is fairly straightforward.

They will give you a scenario and I took some notes down regarding what I would do as a CSA. I ensured to note down who my colleagues are (Managers, Supervisors, other CSAs, BTP, etc.) and I emphasised on how I would put safety first.

It would be also helpful to memorise some of TfLs policies as a breach of these may come up in the scenario. (You don’t have to remember exactly what section or whatever but you should be able to say what’s allowed and what isn’t)

Don’t worry if you can speak about the scenario for long at first as the interviewer will ask you questions about your answers afterwards.

Be confident,
Think carefully,
TAKE NOTES!!

Hello everyone, I passed my roleplay interview on the 8th of August and was given the job on the spot luckily, received my offer email three days later and completed and sent all onboarding documents yesterday. I would like to ask how I should go about giving references to Reed once they contact me since I'm 20 and a recent school leaver so my total work experience only adds up to 10 months and they stated that they require 3 years of employment. Do I have to get references from my school at all? Or will they understand that I haven't been able to work for that long enough?

Booked a medical check, and they asked about prebooked holiday and notice period.

They did mention that training days are in high demand, but they are looking to be adding more dates.

You will have options to select from to fill the gap :) you can explain in there. You’ll be absolutely fine! Also, well done!

Yeah definitely will be checking by the hour now, thanks and congrats on your contract!
Thank you!

Wondering if you’ve got a slot yet? :)

Thanks ! Regarding references , is it exact 3 years they are looking for ? If there is a gap say of 15 days , does one have to give character reference?

I was out of work for one month between jobs and had to specify those dates and why on the reed portal. No reference needed

Can someone please explain what these documents means ?

I haven't gotten the email yet but I have been told I will be asked this so just preparing myself

1) Pension Expression of Wish - what does this mean?
2) Uniform Order - what do we have to do for this ? Give our measurements?
3) Oyster Card application form (plus nominee if required) - what is a nominee for ? Does that mean nominee gets an oyster card as well ?
4) Duty of Care form - please explain
5) CSA2 Full Time Courses Form ???

Oh good ! Thanks . How long does the screening take ? Do we have any option other than giving the reference of current job ? Can we submit HMRC document instead?

1) who you want your money to go to should you unfortunately pass away
2) it’s self explanatory, you fill out the order form. Info is all there for you and states what uniform you can have and the quantity
3) nominee is for a family member who lives at your address to get free travel
4) again, it’s self explanatory but you sign it.
5) not sure on this?

When you get the forms through, it’s very easy

All info for references will be given when filling it out. They don’t expect you to guess :)
They’ll instruct you every step of the way
