Hi all, stumbled across this on Linked In. Didn't see any other posts in the forum about it. According to the Linked In post, they look to be taking applications for a February 2025 start date.

I actually applied back in February for the April course, and was sent my VSE to complete, but the course got filled and I was told I had to wait til October.

In that time I completed my psychometric assessments & MMI with another TOC, and my DFFT with another TOC.

Had three DMI’s in August and chose Chiltern as they really come across as one of the best places to work.

Kour blimey! (Sorry couldn’t help it) fair play to you.

I applied for Chiltern Birmingham depot earlier in the year, passed the VSE to be told my application was on hold due to a high pass rate, but would be kept in a talent pool should another opportunity arise, this doesn’t seem to have happened so I’ve applied again and sent an email to remind them, don’t fancy doing the VSE again!

not sure on the exact figures with the new pay deal but it will increase to c£30k once rules are passed (about 3 months in) and c£66k on passing out which is full salary, there are no increments for qualified drivers

I presume that £66k is for london positions and would be less for say Birmingham? or are the salaries the same all around the board. Also, how long does it take until pass out.

The suite of psychometric tests, the same or very similar to those you would have to take when applying for any trainee driver role.

No, there is no London weighting and the salary at all locations once qualified will be around £65,400 excluding Sundays which are outside the working week. Working only rostered Sundays will add around £6,000 to the base salary.

Impossible to say accurately how long until pass out as it depends on many factors. Anything between ten months and two years.

Long shot but does anyone know if Chiltern have another recruitment drive next year, or is this recruitment drive the last for a while?

The recruitment drive is ongoing, although no drivers are currently required at Banbury or Bletchley.

I applied for Aylesbury on Friday, and was rejected yesterday but from what I could see it was just an eligibility screen (age/location/right to work) plus the option to attach a CV (which i did), is that the standard to expect (i'm very new to this) - how can they reject people that early if they're eligible?

You should be ok for both those depots. Recruiting will continue for the next few years.

Competition for drivers jobs is very fierce with several hundred people applying for every one vacancy. Any reason is used to sift out applicants even at the first stage, not just on age, location and CV etc. You have to be very careful when filling out the initial application form as any answers deemed incorrect or incomplete will automatically result in rejection.

Thank you, it was certainly a surprise but a good learning piece for me, do you know whether i can reapply or am i done for Aylesbury this year?

You would be done for this round of recruitment but I don't see why you couldn't apply again the next time a job is advertised as long as you fit all the criteria in terms of minimum age, maximum commute time from home Depot and so on.
