Quite usual with GA. This and a previous campaign was the same. People move throughout the period of waiting in the pool, it could be indeed handled better if it's clear there won't be any realistic number of vaccanies for said ratio of people waiting for said depot.

Looks like they've a new recruiter so maybe the process for those applying to the new campaign will be slightly improved.

Hello, wondered if anyone is in my position …. I successfully passed stage 1 OPC back in August and was told to wait for invite for stage 2
I was told they are very busy and things are taking longer than usual but im still waiting and wonder if there is anyone else in the same boat?
This was for the Cambridge mainline role. Many thanks
Yeah same here. Passed stage 1 end of June then nothing. Looks like we're back to square one.

Unsurprisingly recieved an email today from GA by a Jo, seems they've replaced the previous recruiter, Jordan.

Anyway the email reads:

From 1st of November consider existing apps basically void unless advanced past the assessment center stage with them.

Good luck to all those applying in the next campaign for a Seat. I've got mine elsewhere, thankfully so won't be in for this next round.
I'm in a weird position because I have passed stage 1 opc and been told to wait for invite to stage 2 and my application is still in progress...... should I assume that they are going pull my application ?

I haven't received the email saying application will be void from 1st NOV and I did reach out to Jo around a month ago, who confirmed I was still in the running and to wait for stage 2 invite? Have you received the email saying application void from 1st Nov? Maybe I'm holding my breathe but perhaps we might join the next round at stage 2?

Contact them, as they'd know more. But I did mention

which means if you got to the assessement center stage and have advanced thru it, at least stage 1 then I'd assume you'd not be affected. Its mostly those who've never heard back after the shortlist email that are receiving the knockbacks. I'd message Jo in your position, same for anyone else.

I really hope so :D thank you for your reply, really keeps the remaining sanity alive! I think I misread your message originally

No I haven't heard anything since the email confirming I had passed stage 1. I'll get in contact and see what they say.

If it helps time line wise, I had too sit the dfft part of stage 1 (had previously passed the rest with another toc before) I sat this dfft on May 29th.

I had another email on 24th June saying I had passed the dfft & didn’t have too complete stage 2 again due to having already passed previously.

Then received another email at the start of July bringing me in for driver manager interview which was booked in for mid July then had a e-mail at end of July saying I was successful following interview but would be held in a talent pool.

Towards the end of August I had another email advising they had a space opening up so had my medical 2 days after said email, medical all passed I ended up starting at the beginning of October

Definitely wasn’t expecting it to go as quick as it did!

The west really need more drivers as I see a few late night or weekend cancellations because of a shortage of train crew
Unfortunately they will lose drivers nearly as quick as they train them on the west. Tonight’s cancellations due to driver shortage have been reinstated.

There is a mixture of depot & mainline drivers all at the training school at the moment that have all started since September

Surprisingly got an email today Inviting me to the Assessment center for the DFFT after 1 and half years(two applications). Have to withdraw as I've already accepted a place at a fantastic TOC.

They are the main operator that drivers deflect to at Cambridge and Stortford although I hear TfL at Chingford too.

Heard there's a few that's joined GN over the last couple of months

Yes there has been quite a loss of west drivers to GN hence the reduced weekend timetables on some GA routes and the odd cancellation here and there.
