Why the massive regret?
All the money wasted following a club that had no ambition other than ripping it's fans off.
Hindsight of course now I have children and grandchildren.
At the time I thought I'd be sad and single all my life so I started travelling that way.
I stopped around 1997 and don't regret it at all.

You must have been happy at the time to have put in 200 games though, good days out with mates etc etc. As for club ripping off fans? Yes, it was going on in the mid 90s but it was pennies compared to what it going on now with EPL clubs.

For sure it was. I looked forward to it all week and yes it wasn't as expensive but I chucked in my season ticket after the club fielded a cup tied player which resulted in the rematch versus villa which they won and we were favs for the lge cup which we never won.
After that rematch there were no signs of disapproval but I was fuming and I got the message that the fans are happy with this and that if I wanted success was to go and support someone else. I just decided to quit following and I don't even support them now and enjoy being a neutral.
My last away game was Osijek in Croatia and with one night accommodation was £400 but I did enjoy the evening.
Looking forward to the outcome of the Arsenal game this afternoon and the divide regarding arteta in or out rivalry.

Middlesbrough 2-3 Sunderland

A really, really good game between two decent teams and Sunderland for once scoring rather conceding late on to get the win. Enzo Le Fee is - for the championship - an unbelievably good footballer and apparently he's only 70% fit at the moment, and playing out of position wide on the left. Luke Ayling will be glad he doesn't have to play against him again any time soon.

Wilson Isidor scored a beauty of a goal - clean through from the halfway line, dummied the keeper, walked the ball past him into the net - and at the end of the game celebrated by putting his shirt on the corner flag and waving it for all he was worth.

North West Counties Football League...Premier Division

Bury 3 ... FC Isle of Man 2

A good attendance of 2,697 for a Tuesday match saw a hard fought game which saw Bury win by the odd goal in five. FC Isle of Man are deserving of their good league place.

Bury passed the 100 goals for the season mark in this game.

Birmingham City extended their unbeaten run to 18 games with a 1-0 victory in he quarter final of the EFL trophy at Stevenage.
Their next game is a FA Cup 4th round tie at Home against Newcastle United on Saturday, that will be live on BBC TV.

I watched this on council tele which was nice. I thought Boro gave away the 3 points by defending like drongo's. Sunderland looked workman like - apart from that Le Fee kid - and were lucky to win thier first league game on Teesside since 1756.

The high line Boro played for the Isidor goal was bonkers. Schoolboy. He took his goal really well but when he had broken the line ( on HALFWAY!) he was in on goal. The winner for Sunderland was a comedy own goal. Just what you want in a derby! The new keeper Boro have just brought in looked like a butterfingers at times and hardly fills you with confidence. Decent shot stopper but the rest of his game looks iffy.

Boro had more of the ball but did nothing with it. Lots of nice passing but nothing really incisive. Defended like kids. Story of thier season apparently.

Burnley 1 ... Oxford United 0

Again, Burnley prove a 1-0 win gets you 3 points as much as a 5-0 win does. This result sees them unbeaten in their last 18 matches. In 31 league games played this season, they still have only conceded 9 goals, which compares well to any league in Europe.
Did they spend when last promoted or did the owners just enjoy a massive pay day?

It's the sort of goal you tend not to see in lower and non-league football. Middlesbrough's defenders pushed right up because they had possession of the ball in the Sunderland half and didn't expect it to be turned over so easily and quickly. Lower league defenders have a lot less faith in their teammates and tend to defend a bit less far up the pitch

Agreed - but Boro seem defensively naïve and aren't good enough to play that way frankly. According to Boro supporters I know they have been done a couple of times like that this season. They don't learn.

Not really. Multiple changes (= eight?) from last Saturday's National League North home game line-up vs Rushall Olympic.
But with it being a semi-final, you would have expected them to field a somewhat stronger side from their not-so-small squad.

The other semi-final being played tonight is between Chadderton and Irlam, who are currently in 4th and 7th place in the Premier Division of the North West Counties Football League.

Result

Chadderton 2 ... Irlam 3

Irlam get a last-minute winner.

Not necessarily. Curzon Ashton (= fifth in National League North at present) might just be having a tilt at promotion this season. Win all their games in hand, and they could conceivably go top.

Textbook British Managers Lunch Club. A destroy and exit is underway

Carlisle United have appointed Wales legend Mark Hughes as their new head coach.

Hughes has signed a rolling contract to replace Mike Williamson who was sacked on Monday with the club bottom of League Two.

Hughes is just getting valuable experience at the level of football needed to be the next Man City manager.

Haaland and a bunch of pipe fitters and taxi drivers.

Last night Both fans and players of Liverpool after making the final were acting as if it was a charity match. No jubilant atmosphere like the previous night at Newcastle. Also you wouldn't think that Tottenham are or were one of the top 6 six club. How standards have fallen.

Gosh, team looking odds on to win the Premier League fail to get overly excited about beating famously flaky Tottenham and reaching the country’s secondary cup final, whereas opponents in that final have already celebrated like they’ve won the thing already.

They might have already won it if Liverpool do indeed see this as a lesser final. Newcastle have already given Liverpool one of their sternest tests this season, a 3-3 draw. A game where Mo Salah's individual quality wasn't nearly enough to overcome Newcastle's attacking threat and sheer resilience.

Liverpool fans and players surely also saw the way the Newcastle manager's innovative match specific tactics, combined with their player's experience, toughness, sharpness, fitness and all round attacking threat, combined to make it as plain as could be that the top echelon defences of teams like Arsenal are no challenge.

Especially not when there's silverware at stake and you have the backing of a passionate support. It has all the makings of a 4-3 classic. Only this time it's easy to see how it could be Newcastle scoring four and Mo Salah only three.
