I attended the assessment centre almost 3 weeks ago and was told there that we would hear back in about 2 weeks but still heard nothing. Has anyone waited longer to hear back than what was advised ??

I spoke to recruitment yesterday, the person who deals specifically with conductor recruitment is off on leave until the end of this week, so I would expect they would be in touch maybe next week.

Thank you so much

I’ve enquired before when I previously applied for roles as was waiting months for progress updates and when I emailed to check I would get a automatic ‘you were unsuccessful’ email back and I’ve friends who got the same so I’m scared to actually email in lol.

Thanks again.

I attended an assestment at Atrium Ct in October 2024 for Trainee Train Driver, which I passed. I failed the next stage, interview.
I have applied for a conductor at Edinburgh and passed the online assesment. My question is will I do the assessment at Atrium Ct or will the assessment that I passed last year for the driver role count.

Different assessments for Conductors so your driver ones wont count, you'll do these assessments at Atrium like you did the drivers ones.

Just sat test ! They said it'll be a week from today for results , the safety test with the shapes threw my eyes off but got about more than half way down page , managed to do 28 out of 34 answers on the verbal test .. here's hoping I met the pass mark , does anyone know the marks lol

More than halfway down and no mistakes / minimal mistakes (as in small single digits) would be good enough to pass.

What depot have you applied for?

See my post at the very top of this thread, the tool for the SCAAT has been linked. Definitely recommend that you practice this extensively, I’ve sat and passed both the guard and driver assessments and personally found the Guards assessments a lot more challenging than the drivers.

More than halfway down each page with no mistakes would be incredible. 10-12 accurate lines across all 3/4 pages is enough as its consistent and correct.

It just means after sitting the test it's under further consideration, don't read too much into it. You will get an email notifying you of test results pass or fail.

That what mine has sat at since I applied and made it to the first stage, I’m hoping to hear this week as it’s been almost 4 weeks since my assessment and was told I would hear back in 2 lol

The recruitment process is so tough. Keep positive. No news is deemed somewhat good news. Fingers crossed for you. Just for timeline - I was 13 months from application close onto offer of position starting in April. Some people have been weeks or months and they are onto the next stage.

The verbal and safety test practice is alot different from the assessment centre , just try and practice as much as you can , the verbal is more on railway safety statements the practice gives you an idea but a different context. The safety is shapes not letters , plays with your eyes and there's 3 sub type tests within that , so they get "harder" the more you go on

Good luck you'll be grand!

You should have received it in the mail with the invite to the assessment, they've clearly forgotten and you need to chase them.

Just sat the assessment today. Would recommend that people make sure they put enough effort into practicing shapes (when practicing I put more effort into letters than random shapes). Your eyes defo start going towards the last test but feeling pretty happy nonetheless!

The verbal test I found much harder, think I only managed about 21 of the 34 questions. Does anyone know if that’s enough to pass the verbal?

Hard to say as they look for accuracy over speed usually. I thought I’d done horrendous when I sat mine but managed to pass and I don’t think I did as many as 21 questions. As long as you took your time and didn’t rush through it, which sounds like you did take your time, you should be fine

Applied for conductor job on the 19th of January, not heard anything from then.

Just wondering how long they take if anyone can help. Do they let you know if unsuccessful?

Yeah they should do

Well I failed the assessment, have asked for feedback , I believe i know what I did wrong on the safety test you have to mark with this symbol and I marked it the other way round on one page (/,\) , hopefully get feedback , considering they give the information of your results to multiple other companies they should give you the results to see yourself.

Feel extremely stupid considering I have never failed an Exam in my life or a whole degree for that matter.

Can I ask how you contacted recruitment? Was it by email or did you call them and if so what is the email address or contact number you used please :)

Hi folks. I had an interview for a conductor role based in Glasgow Central the other week and heard the next day that I'd failed it. The email said to wait for 6 months before applying again, does that mean applying for any ScotRail vacancies, or all roles in Glasgow Central, or just for conductor vacancies in Glasgow Central?

Also, I applied for other conductor roles elsewhere at the same time as the Glasgow Central one, will those applications be void as a result? There's been no movement on them and they still just say "under consideration."

Sorry if any of this has been answered already, couldn't find anything anywhere

That's unfortunate, hopefully the next time it will be easier as you will know what to expect.

As far as I know from a previous email a few years back - the 6 month rule applies to that 'conductor' role. I can't confirm if it is GC station specific, maybe someone else can for you though. Failing that I would email recruitment for clarification.

Sorry to hear Mulch. What kind of questions did they ask at the interview?
Think the 6 month rule only applies to the Conductor position.

Sorry to hear that Mulch.

As far as I’m aware, the 6 month rule only applies to conductor jobs. However, I think if you still have active applications open, they should still proceed. I applied for Perth, was waiting for an interview when Stirling came up. I applied to Stirling, was rejected, but still got my interview with Perth later. Slightly different situation from yourself, but hopefully they’ll keep you in the running for the existing applications.

Did you get any feedback from your interview?
