This is very exciting!!150242 has also returned and is in the hybrid formation. Believe it ran Landore - Port Talbot return today on test. I've seen a few images around of it at Landore. Still hasn't had the unit numbers on it just yet!
Oooo this is good news - means I can get back down there to nab the final 2 I need that are still working!150242 has also returned and is in the hybrid formation. As of midday today, 158824 is still at Mach. 158841 is not there.Where have the "Talerddig pair" ended up, or are they still at Machynlleth ?
It is. It’s just hidden. As of midday today, 158824 is still at Mach. 158841 is not there.
Must be very well hidden? I thought I could see right through the old shed past the far end of 824, and it's not in the new one?It is. It’s just hidden.
Very well indeed. That’s exactly where it is. Once it’s in there they close the door though so you won’t be able to see it from the outside.Must be very well hidden? I thought I could see right through the old shed past the far end of 824, and it's not in the new one?

As far as I'm aware the ones that are there (except 972 which is being converted to Active Travel spec) are all stood down awaiting officially being stored and off-leased.Do we know what the situation is with the 153s in Landore
And would I be correct in at some pointAs far as I'm aware the ones that are there (except 972 which is being converted to Active Travel spec) are all stood down awaiting officially being stored and off-leased.
The Welsh 158s will be available at some point.
Quoted From the class 175 to GWR thread as I thought it would be more appropriate to reply here. That is, at a minimum, over 2 years from now.
That looks to be correct. From the May Timetable there's still 13 diagrams so a few will have to stay on past there. From then mostly heart of Wales with 2 pairs on Bridgend to Rhymney and 1 pair on Crewe- Shrewsbury locals inter working off Heart of Wales, nothing up or down the MarchesAnd would I be correct in at some point
913, 320, 323, 325, 333, 361, 367, 369 to follow
with TFW only retaining
303, 312, 318, 327, 353, 362, 382, 507, 528, 531, 552, 568, 572
Or have things changed again are they going to keep more than 13
Any further developments with 242?
Thanks Bill. I will keep an eye on this tomorrow - a move to Canton could be another step towards a return to service. Would be ideal if it could return within the next 2 weeksDon't take my word for it but there is this path in for Landore - Canton tomorrow, could potentially be 150242.Realtime Trains | 3Z30 1000 Landore T.M.D. to Cardiff Canton Sidings | 12/03/2025

The 158s wont be able to leave until the switch over on the Cambrian happens. Whether this happens overnight with a switch between 158 and 197 or whether it will be gradual im not sure.Quoted From the class 175 to GWR thread as I thought it would be more appropriate to reply here.
Has there been an update on the release of 158s? We’ve had end of last year to end of this year and now 2 years….(and this is ignoring the early 2023 timeline given back in 2018) Has any new issues arisen or is this down to 197 reliability/availability or other expected fleet issues?
So no work on Ebbw Vale either for 153s from the May TT.That looks to be correct. From the May Timetable there's still 13 diagrams so a few will have to stay on past there. From then mostly heart of Wales with 2 pairs on Bridgend to Rhymney and 1 pair on Crewe- Shrewsbury locals inter working off Heart of Wales, nothing up or down the Marches
It has not.ea. Has train crew training even started yet for staff who sign the Cambrian?
I think the plan is to stop them coming ECS from Canton eventually so it could be linked to that.Looking at the timetable looks like they need a set of 153s at Carmarthen for heart of wales for 0447 Carmarthen to Shrewsbury from May
missed that one, there's still a diagram for Swanline including that 0830ish off Swansea, it runs ecs from Canton then back on that one then another Swanline before heading to Fishguard and back to Carmarthen.Currently there seems to be a Swanline that is also booked for a pair of 153s. The one that leaves Neath for Cardiff around 0845. If it isnt officially booked for a pair of 153s it has been every time ive checked RTT or seen it like i did this morning!
Yes there will, formed off the Fishguard the previous evening.Looking at the timetable looks like they need a set of 153s at Carmarthen for heart of wales for 0447 Carmarthen to Shrewsbury from May
That service currently operates on Mondays only, but resumes Tuesday to Friday operation from 1st April actually - it hasn’t been running from Carmarthen due to overnight line works.Looking at the timetable looks like they need a set of 153s at Carmarthen for heart of wales for 0447 Carmarthen to Shrewsbury from May
Thank you so 15 needed in Maymissed that one, there's still a diagram for Swanline including that 0830ish off Swansea, it runs ecs from Canton then back on that one then another Swanline before heading to Fishguard and back to Carmarthen.

No still 13 diagrams just hadn't noticed that one was different.Thank you so 15 needed in May
No - it’s the first train which currently starts at Swansea due to overnight engineering works.Thank you so 15 needed in May
Thank you. I had a feeling this one was booked a pair of 153s as it seems to be too often for it to be a substitution!missed that one, there's still a diagram for Swanline including that 0830ish off Swansea, it runs ecs from Canton then back on that one then another Swanline before heading to Fishguard and back to Carmarthen.
