The actual medical? I think mine was about an hour and half. Although it wasn’t rushed as he only had one other a couple of hours later, very relaxed and we chatted about nothing in particular at times. If they’re on top of it and got a few on, they could maybe do it all in an hour?
Thanks for clarifying that. Really appreciate it
Hi mate, where have you applied for? Im Glasgow but still waiting on a date for my medical, Passed the mmi on 19th of feb

Was it 5th of Feb or March you had your 2nd assessments and is it 27th of March for medical?
Assessment centre 2 was the 5th March. Been asked if I would make a medical on the 27th March but yet to have that confirmed 100% at the moment.

....

Can anyone else confirm the timeframe between undertaking their medical to their proposed start date? Would be keen to gauge how long the turnaround typically is between the two.

Thanks :)

Think everyone has different timeframes so hard to put a timescale on it. I’m just over 3 weeks since medical and had to contact from ScotRail yet. A friend of mine last year done his medical on a Wednesday and started the following Monday lol

Good morning all.

Just received my email saying I had passed the 1st assessments and will be in touch for the next stage which would be the driver manager interview I believe.
Is there anybody within the forum that could assist me in detailing the daily roles and routine of a driver and what other information I can research to assist me with my interview!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I had my medical 6 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a response. I did get a provisional start date end of May but hoping to leave my current employer middle of May so would need to hand in my notice soon, getting a wee bit worried haha

haha salt in the wound! Good luck to everyone going through the tests right now, I never thought I would get to the end of it but it is absolutely possible if you prep well :)

I’m currently waiting on a medical date. God knows how long that wait will be, no point even trying to gauge as everyone seems to be different.

Only been 2 weeks since I sat and passed the last set of assessments and MMI right enough.

I'm 3 weeks since passing MMI. Like you say I think it's location dependant mainly, and different for everyone.

Has anyone here who has been successful had to re locate? If so can you give any insight on how this works as to just getting a start date for station you applied for? The wife and I have both been successful but we have been asked if we still would relocate!

Congratulations on the start date to you and your wife. Out of curiosity where have you been asked to relocate too? Didn’t realise that was something they did

Aberdeen! We said at interview we would if need be, it’s not an issue for us but just curious as to how it all works or if it’s just as simple as moving and starting haha!

Hi All,

I was wondering if someone could share what's involved in the medical. I'm just about to sit the 2nd assessment, so not quite at that stage yet but I have been stressing about the medical for ages. I'm type 1 diabetic and both myself and doctors have tried to look for information on whether I would be accepted but havent found anything to say otherwise.

Thanks
Bob

I believe if your diabetic you will be ok as long as this is under control, I’d imagine they will speak with your GP for insight into it all and possibly ask for tests regarding it.

The actual driver medical is no problem.
Standard eye and hearing test, bmi (don’t worry about that) ECG and overall health insight.

Was in and out within the hour.

Its my understanding that type 1 diabetics would NOT be considered as a driver. Contact optima health directly for clarification.

Hey folks.

Is there anyone who has had their start date yet and commenced training who can give a little insight into the day to day for the first 3 months or so:
- hours worked
- daily structure
- pace / intensity of learning etc

Given we are all edging that little bit closer would be good to get some feedback from those now in post.

Many thanks

I’ve just had positive feedback from my DMI which was Feb 4th, however it was for Waverley. I’d really like to think if it was a negative for us, they would let us know within 2 weeks. No news is goods as they say. Good luck
