Good morning all.

Just received my email saying I had passed the 1st assessments and will be in touch for the next stage which would be the driver manager interview I believe.
Is there anybody within the forum that could assist me in detailing the daily roles and routine of a driver and what other information I can research to assist me with my interview!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Dan Wright

Hi Dan,

I've got the 1st assessment coming up next week. The test that's giving me the most stress is the memory test. What sort of format was that test in? It's read aloud first and then do you have 3 minutes like in the practise material, or is it a bit longer?

It's a bit more challenging to practise for compared to the dots etc.

Has anyone from Glasgow had a rejection after their DMI? I have been waiting since 20th January without word!? I have emailed 3 times since but with no
I’ve just had positive feedback from my DMI which was Feb 4th, however it was for Waverley. I’d really like to think if it was a negative for us, they would let us know within 2 weeks. No news is goods as they say. Good luck
i did my dmi on feb 25th and got an email 10th of march after emailing about an update. Just said I’d passed and they will be in touch about the next stage.

Heard from someone in ScotRail that there might be no advertising this year due to how many applications received previously.

Gutted.

To add to that, It appears last years advert went live at the beginning of March so timeline wise - it makes sense why they haven't advertised again. Oh well.

Would be gutting if that’s the case. Seems they are still processing people from last year which would make sense why there’s no open applications for now. Doesn’t rule them out opening later in the year as they’re currently on a multi-year recruitment drive so likely they’ll want to keep their pool of applicants full. That’s my best guess anyway.

I'm Glasgow/Lanarkshire and still waiting. The last correspondence i had was May 24 saying I had met the required standard then just before new year saying basically they haven't forgot about us. Anyone any email address to see if I can get some information on what's happening.

I'm in the same boat bud and have emailed every month and had no replies.

I'm Lanarkshire based. I sent an email a few days ago and I got the following reply:

"We are still working through these applications and inviting candidates in for assessment days at the areas where we have vacancies at this time.

Again apologies for the delay and thank you for your patience."

The wait continues

Just got an email saying I had passed my medical and that they will be in touch in due course with a start date. Anyone else Edinburgh based in the same boat? Spoke to a few who seem to have been given a provisional date but no mention of anything on my email

For anyone still waiting, have a look at your emails. I got an email today (separate to the one I mentioned in my last message) asking if I was happy for my application to still be held on file.

Assume it's standard as it's been a year.

That's great news well done! Hope you get your start date soon.

I have now received my official start date of 29th May. It will be a 2 day online induction then will start in Atrium Court 2nd June!

I hope the people waiting on medical results/start dates get them soon.

Hi.

Has anyone who attended atrium court for the first assessment on the 4th of March been giving a date for DMI yet ?

I got my email advising i was successful on all tests on the 7th March - i know its usually a bit of a wait time between stages but just curious ?

Had anyone been successful through all assessments but failed the mmi? If so, how long did you have to wait to get interviewed again, and if you don’t mind me asking what went wrong in the interview?

I believe they've changed the rules recently to 1 year before you can re-apply. All tests remain live for 5 years though. So if you did apply again, I think you'd only have to go through the 2 interviews again

Hi,

I did mine yesterday so everything is still kinda fresh in my brain. Will DM you with a comprehensive advice/comments by the end of the day (once I'm home from work).

In the meantime, could anyone please advice me on what a train driver shift looks like?

Doesn't have to be 100% correct but something just to give me an idea. How long is a shift? How many rest days do they get? Do they get to return home after each shift? Or are there times they would need to sleep over at hotels cus their next shift is returning from where they ended their last shift? Etc

I'd appreciate as much info as possible. Thanks.
Hello I also have an assessment coming up shortly. Could you message myself too.

2 people from my MMI failed the computer element of the tests and were told they can re apply after 6 months, not sure how that works in practice though.

Can I ask I ask if you managed to make it to the next stage and how you found it? Feel free to PM me if you’d prefer, I am unable to start a private chat yet.
Yeah I made it to the next stage. I've done my DMI a few weeks ago and now got my MMI on Tuesday.

Many thanks
I started end of Nov last year and you were away by 3pm Mon-Thurs, and on Fridays you'll be away by lunchtime unless you've got the sim on a Friday, in which case they'll let those who have to travel the furthest get on the sim first, and obviously if you're closer you'll get a later time for your sim

Hi , can anyone confirm how many weeks before start date that they received their contract etc?
I’ve a start date at the end of May and wanting to give my current employer as much notice as possible but unsure if I’m a priority at present as I know there are start dates before mine.

Thanks
I started 28th Nov, received my contract 28th Oct...

Hi all.

I passed DMI a few weeks ago and in terms of next stage one of the DM's advised next step was assessment centre and the other said at a different time that it was the Manager's Interview.

Looking at some recent comments I'm thinking the next step is the second stage assessment centre followed by MMI on same day...does that seem right?
