Are 159011, 159015 and 444015 out of action? I have been checking all three in RTT, but none of them seem to have worked for a while now. Does anyone know why and when they will be back in service?

Hi RedPostJunc

159011 seems to have been in service until the end of March when it retired to Salisbury depot.

159015 has been at Bournemouth depot for a C4 overhaul.

444017 has been hard at work on the usual Desiro routes.

Hope this is helpful.

Carl Watson web page has photos of 444015 in short term store at Eastleigh works

444015 yeah has been at Eastleigh since March 27th. I assume some works to be done by Siemens.

Thank you to all who replied.
What is the Siemens “handback” program?

I’m not entirely sure. All I do know is that as the originally 20 year Siemens deal has finished, all the desiros need an inspection.

U.444015 has been badly graffitied on three coaches and I'm told is waiting for a repaint, parked up between two Class 701 units (007/52).

455.868 has been out of service for a while I believe - awaiting axle/wheelset replacement? Anyone know when it last worked in passenger service?

455868 27.03.25

But there are eight others that have been out of passenger use for longer than 5868

455871 17.09.24
455742 09.11.24
455913 22.01.25
455903 30.01.25
455852 07.02.25
455869 10.02.25
455734 15.02.25
455910 19.02.25

Hi

455913 went to Bournemouth on the 24 January. I believe for component recovery and a long holiday!

Timing seems set for this to be the GBR reveal unit. Rumours suggest the press event is at Bournemouth depot. Paint shop?

U.444015 will be repainted at Eastleigh Works as they won the tender for doing the work.

The staff who were employed at Bournemouth depot in the paint shop are currently doing cab paints on 444/450 units at Fratton Depot.
So it unlikely any event will held there. The only alteration to units on May 26th will be the removal of MTR logos and SWR logos, both of which can be peeled off.

seeing as graffiti like this just gets cleaned off I’d be very surprised to see the unit repainted. post 25th May, the company name formally changes to South Western Railway Limited and the DfT own the SWR name as such. it won’t be coming off as far as I’m aware. Lots of the FirstMTR stickers are off already. 4015 needs 12 wheelsets that’s all that’s on the stop sheet.

although just meant a lot of sweat, swearing and about £800 of materials.

I was only repeating what I was informed by SWR staff both regards the unit & stickers, it came from a reliable source.
