. Oops - wrong thread!

Thanks for confirming, interesting way of doing it. Guess it means they can be replaced at the earliest opportunity when it's possible to do so.
You are correct. With new stock introduction there will often be a number of the cyclic diagrams that require some of their content changing (eg associated ECS moves), so it is easier/better to re issue all the base diagrams in their required new guise at an earlier timetable change date, and back fill with older stock as necessary, as the old order will be gone before too long (in theory) and the new order can just slot in without reworking stock and crew diagram content along the way.

5725 is hidden away on 13 road in the lift shop. It is still being harvested. I am sure the motor coach will be going to Beeston as there is a request to lift the coach on arrival to retrieve the motor bogies to overhaul at least the wheelsets, the other three coaches may join it there.
Wonder if the motor bogies could be swapped with 5868?

Having been away from SWR territory for some years, I really must get out to photograph the 455's...

By my reckoning, the following are definitely no more.... 5704, 5722, 5726, 5736, 5740, 5847, 5855, 5907, 5917 and 5918 - is this correct or have I missed any?

Thanks to @WarrenTManager as always for updates - really appreciated

I think 455 902 is now permanently withdrawn but not yet disposed of.

Excellent point, ditto! Spent most of one's career involved with them, but as is often the case the job takes over and before one knows, they've gone!

I was looking through my old 35mm photos the other week; a shot of blue-grey 455s sat at Waterloo's old westside sidings, with a 487 "Drain" car beside, looks so "old school" now! :)

North Sidings, only ever space for 4 cars per siding, so of no use once everything became 8 car all day. Have shared this one of mine elsewhere, but sort of relevant perhaps?

Superb trackside shot. Those lines were swept away for the Eurostar terminal, weren't they?
My 35mm shot was taken from the platform face visible on your photo.

Yes, that's correct, and taken with authorisation btw. I could say much more, and have many more pics I took during the rebuilding work, but that's not for this thread.

This would appear to have been the final passenger train for 455913

Wednesday 22nd January 2025
1D51 1754 London Waterloo to Dorking
As far as I know the other coaches of 5913 are away for corrosion work as are coaches from 5903 and 5852.

5902/5909 are out of C6 miles and are stood down.

5725 is out of C4. The bogies are going to be recovered and the wheelsets overhauled when the unit goes for scrap.

If you have the time and desire to create a thread of those, I - and I'm sure many more - would absolutely love to see those photos. 8-)

Yes please! Waterloo was the gateway to London for my childhood. Many memories just waiting to be triggered.

Thank you. I took the information that 5913 was for component recovery from the swr-units-out-of-action thread. I apologise if I have misunderstood the situation.

I have been tempted to start a thread on same, but many of my images were taken from/of places that were not accessible to general public. Although always taken with relevant permission(s) at the time, they were only ever for my own interest. Much of my photographic collection, such as it is, I have now donated to certain recognised societies/archives, each relevant to the subject(s) that interested me at the time.

Although I have posted a few of my images on this forum over time, I have always been wary to a degree about submitting. Todays world is a different place from that I knew as a youngster/in my early working life, and I have no wish to post any image that - albeit un-intentionally - may lead to some act of illegality by some random person just looking in to this site, but who has no respect for the railway and the inherent dangers around same.
May be I'm being too over cautious, but I am guided to a degree by the rules that I understand some other sites/publications have in place.

I have re-read this forum's rules and can not see anything specific about this (MODS?), but even so, I will always err on the side of caution.

I'm happy to answer (if I can?) anything you may wish to know about Waterloo, but it's a very big subject, so my overall knowledge is perhaps limited to my own area(s) of expertise.

Like the 315s of which I spent the early part of my career on.
You'll have to forgive me, but was that GN or GE? My memory is getting worse by the day!

On Twitter, it has been reported that coaches 77775 and 62807 of 5725 were loaded onto lorries and sent to Unimetals Newport yesterday. The other two coaches (71541 and 77776) will go to Unimetals Beeston in the near future.

Sorry to see, especially when I counted 6 different short formed 455 units out today...
I suppose there have to be some casualties in order to rob parts to keep the others going...

i think it’s the other way around. i was of the understanding that the bogie recovery was done at Beeston so that’s where the motor coach needs to go.
