5711 is back in traffic after a protracted C4. Ran 15/03 on Hampton Court shuttles. Today it’s doing a diagram that covers 2F mainly with a few 2G and 2M.

Did another 455 go for C4 today please as 5B39 09+15 Wimbledon Park to Bournemouth Depot ran but with no units allocated ??

Thanks in advance.

5869 and 5734 have gone to Eastleigh works today for some wheel set attention.
I think there are a few more that may require this, I've been on 3 455s this week and all of them had horrendous wheel flats (so loud in some places that you could hear them louder than the actual motors!)

Friday just gone was 5914 for a C6.

This could be an allocation error in the data to RTT, but 5914 shows up as being in passenger service today. I thought that C6 overhauls took a lot longer than a week?

The C6 is massively descoped. Eg no new interior or repaint, no MA overhaul etc. there will be periodic items that get changed and everything else gets absorbed into level 1-4 maintenance back at the depot if it fails. As the SWR 455 fleet is a dry lease, level 5 maintenance is not funded by the ROSCO.

Sounds like a pragmatic solution to keep them going!

Thank you for that explanation. I have got used to GWR 150 C6 overhauls at Wolverton taking around six months, so this is significantly different, but understandable given the planned short term future of the 455s.

Been told that 5725 has been put out of service recently at Wimbledon and will undergo stripping for spares prior to scrapping.

If this is correct, then the last passenger train shown for 5725 on RTT was on Thursday;

I saw it come pelting through Surbiton on the up fast around 1700 on Friday.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the reason for it being condemned? Did it suffer a major failure?

The unit paired with it on that run, 455 708 - that doesn't seem to be running today... that hasn't been stopped as well has it...?

That presumably was 5Y51, although I do not know it would have come to be at Bournemouth between Thursday morning and Friday afternoon, but there is a lot that I do not know.

U.455914 went down to Bournemouth Depot on 5B39 last Friday 14/03/25 as per WarrenTManager post #2105 on this thread.

Hope that helps.

In slightly more positive 455 news, 5715 appears to be back in service for (I believe) the first time this year on 2V49

Yes, that's the one. It's on my not had for over 10 years list so I was pleased to see it heading back to Wimbledon. Thankfully 5725 was ticked off mid February this year. My only previous run on it was in April 2002!

5725 is out of bogie miles. 5871 is the last C4 as far as I am aware and that is in progress now.
