So glad that woke idiot Southgate is no longer England manager............
Indeed, get what we deserve on that front! So glad that woke idiot Southgate is no longer England manager............
And there's more to come on Tuesday can't wait. Not the most scintillating of England performances, despite the optimism of the commentators; 'The Andorrans will tire towards the end' and (after the goal) 'now the floodgates will open'. At times it looked like England were going for the 'Most Completed Passes without actually Going Anywhere' award.
Uriah Rennie, the Premier League's first black referee, has died aged 65.
Rennie officiated more than 300 games between 1997 and 2008, including 175 Premier League matches.
Some sad news: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c0mr7xlmkxyo
His first game in the football league was Darlington v Preston on the opening day of the 94/95 season. The Preston bus broke down and the kick off was delayed.
He also played 15 minutes injury time when he forgot what time kick off was in an FA Cup game between Solihull & Darlington
Sad indeed, he was a good referee.
Absolutely - he did not take any rubbish off the players!Sad indeed, he was a good referee.
Opening game of the 1999-2000 season, which finished Newcastle 0 Aston Villa 1 and was reportedly Shearer's 100th appearance for the barcodes. Second yellow card on 71 minutes, issued by Uriah Rennie, was apparently for persistent misconduct. My Sunlun-supporting missus loved him, because he sent Alan Shearer off at St James' for absolutely nothing *, and when he reffed a Sunlun game a week or two later he got a standing ovation
* an alleged but non-existent elbow on some Villa defender as I recall.

The Sunderland home match, also officiated by Uriah Rennie, was a 0-0 home fixture vs Arsenal, played the following Saturday.
It was a rather good story. Worth doing a bit of fact checking! Thanks. We seem to have remembered most of it accurately!
Very sad indeed. It was a shock to hear of his illness earlier this year. Hopefully soon the FA will be able to do something to encourage more referees from non-white backgrounds to follow in his footsteps, though they don't seem to want to encourage any referees full stop at the minute...Some sad news: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c0mr7xlmkxyo

It was mentioned on the news that he was a Black Belt in two different martial arts. Not to mention being a magistrate in Sheffield.I always recall Rennie being an extremely fit referee, especially for the era in which he officiated.
Not quite. Wales scored their first in 1st half stoppage time and only levelled in the 70' minute. Was a dramatic game but many players were exhausted by the end.Belgium 4 Wales 3. Great game, Belgium quickly went 3-0 up but Wales amazingly pulled it back to 3-3 by half time. A good number of chances for both sides in the second half but Belgium got the winner in the 87th minute.
Indeed, that's what comes of posting before being fully awake! Not quite. Wales scored their first in 1st half stoppage time and only levelled in the 70' minute.
So were many watching them!many players were exhausted by the end.
Why?Note who it was who scored the fourth and final goal that won the game for Belgium.
He was considered to be disposable contract-wise by Manchester City, yet proved he can be effective at international level. Why?
Meanwhile, 6 other players also scored in the match. I don't get what point you are trying to make. Is one more important than all the others? He was considered to be disposable contract-wise by Manchester City, yet proved he can be effective at international level.
It was the scorer of the 7th and winning goal who gave the win to Belgium. You get nowt for losing 3-4.Meanwhile, 6 other players also scored in the match. I don't get what point you are trying to make. Is one more important than all the others?
I can only guess you're trying to make some point about Manchester. The world doesn't actually revolve around Manchester though. It was the scorer of the 7th and winning goal who gave the win to Belgium. You get nowt for losing 3-4.
You guess fallaciously. Has not Kevin de Bruyne now been considered not good enough to form part of the future plans of Manchester City.I can only guess you're trying to make some point about Manchester. The world doesn't actually revolve around Manchester though.
He is 34 in a couple of weeks so unlikely to play much of a part in future plans. A wonderful player but is injury prone. After saying all that, he was probably worth another year but would he have accepted it.Has not Kevin de Bruyne now been considered not good enough to form part of the future plans of Manchester City.
The other team conceded three. For a neutral it was an enjoyable match. How can people be enthusiastic when an international team concedes four goals in an international match?
I'd like to be clear on this - I don't care one jot.Has not Kevin de Bruyne now been considered not good enough to form part of the future plans of Manchester City.
Goalkeeper Ross Doohan kept a clean sheet for Scotland last night. He has now been considered not good enough to form part of the future plans of Aberdeen. You guess fallaciously. Has not Kevin de Bruyne now been considered not good enough to form part of the future plans of Manchester City.
