Is this sort of job still income tax free?

It isnt for everybody but I did a contract like that in the eighties and it paid my mortgage.

You have to look out for periods of severe depression midway in the seven week stint and you need to be sure your family is aware of what it entails for them. It helps if you are with a number of other ex-pats and you need to check the living arrangements and the quality of their HR department in case you run into trouble.

Depends on where the person is paid. Earnings tax paid abroad are now subject to a payment of the difference between UK tax and the taxation paid overseas, if one is regarded as being domiciled in the UK. The last Government closed up a lot of areas for the ordinary person, whilst allowing Millionaires to benefit from somewhat different rules, which means you would almost certainly be regarded as domiciled if you visit the UK regularly. There are however some very considerable financial benefits to being domiciled in Ireland for tax purposes, especially with their low 12% corproation tax, and all tax paid in Ireland EXEMPTS you from additional taxation in the UK due to a long standing tax agreement between the UK and Ireland.
