  • Hey, It still won't let me PM you, maybe you can't do it on the first day of being registered on here! But if you have any questions feel free to ask them here and I'll do my best to answer :)
    Hi,
Please do a few extra posts on the forum so that I can PM you and you can PM me, these visitor messages can be seen by anyone so PM is better.
You just need 5 or 6 posts and then you can use the PM feature, hence why I wouldnt post my e-mail address here as anyone can see it!
Hi again, yeh do you actually have an email address I could contact you, it will give me some room to write a bit more??

Thanks for the info so far.
Also thought i'd point out that I've now got a Gateline role, I was originally after a Station Asst role but no vacancies at the time, so the questions might differ, strangely enough I was never asked about revenue and ticketing though for my interview! I had edited my post out on the forum as I was worried I could be identified!
They also ask about the role itself, so it's worth reading the online description so that you can talk about the daily duties of the role. I also had practical questions in mine such as how I would get to the location for an early start, as sometimes theres no trains from your home station so early (I don't live near the station where I'll be based!)

What stage are you on at the moment? did you pass the assessments? One bugbear is that the whole process takes forever until you actually start (I havent started yet!)

That's all I can remember, hope it helps a bit, and do feel free to ask more questions! Good luck :)

(sorry had to post this in 2 parts due to 1000 character limit!)
    Hi Matt!

I'm sorry to hear you haven't had much success at the interviews in the past :( I think with 10 years you should definitely get consideration for that amount of experience, I must admit I haven't had any experience so I might be asking you operational questions in the future!

The interview I found challenging but quite informal at the same time, it takes about half an hour and is held with the local manager and someone else of similar seniority.

The questions are based on what you have answered in the online application already, alot of it is asking you to give examples of when you have worked as part of a sucessful team, worked to deadlines, worked following rules.
You also get asked to name some of the hazards around the station environment and also about a time you had a difficult situation with another member of staff and how you resolved it (I think the key is not to sound too negative, tell them what skills you'd use to resolve things!)
