An agreement will be reached as it’s beneficial for both parties. I suspect the council will pay an increased rent and pay for an upgrade to facilities etc. Both parties could be equally worse off if no agreement is reached as the council could lose the station and the coal board could be left...
At the time the plan was
If memory serves me right the plan was to put charger stations at the Brunton Hall stop and Musselburgh Grammar for the 30 but planning permission was refused due to potential vandalism.
Could the 12 become a LCB service extending from the Gyle to Kirkliston via Ratho? When it gets to Kirkliston it becomes a 72 and vice versa. It would mean less dead mileage and an easier driver changeover.
Once the new road from Millerhill to Qmu/A1 Slip is built I suspect the 106 will serve the Royal Infirmary. The 33 could also be extended at that point to Qmu or Fort Kinnaird along same route.
With the freeing up of deckers with the 48 becoming single deck, 25 frequency reductions and the 49 being cut back to the hospital, could one of the current single decker routes, apart from the 30 and 38, be converted to double deck operation?
Viewcraig street is a bit tight to send a bus down. Maybe Divert the 45 to go Abbey Mount, Horse Wynd, Holyrood Road, the Pleasance, West Richmond Street then Nicholson Square.
Have Lothian closed the Newbridge depot for Lothian Motorcoaches? I have driven past Longstone a couple of times recently and a number of Coaches are parked out back. I know they go to Longstone for maintenance etc, bit it's just weird that they seem to be there all the time.
Or with the old craighall services getting a refurbishment could that be used as a terminus point or interchange point with East Coast Buses and maybe an extension of the 400 up the A1 and 33 extension
I live next to the railway bridge. First used to send double deckers that way all the time.
Ideally they should extend the 45 from Queen Margaret University via Stoneybank to Millerhill and Shawfair, or extend the 140 from Tesco to the Royal Infirmary giving Penicuik, Loanhead etc a direct bus...
Doing that would leave the stoneybank area of Musselburgh and without a bus service and the last 45 is around 18:30 leaving QMU without a bus service post 18:30.
A better idea would be to reroute the 49 from Sheriffhall Park to QMU via the new development at shawfair, Millerhill and Old...
Noticed that most of Lothians open top tour buses have been moved to the motorcoaches depot at Newbridge. Assuming they will be cancelled on Monday and all drivers from motorcoaches and tours seconded to service bus driving within other parts of Lothian Buses.
