Nooo .. Travelling from kent so will drive around M25 ... and will also avoid the ridiculously short six coach trains on HS1 which are also always packed except in the morning peaks .. and re second paragraph yes, that's why I put it in general discussion not main forum ! .. But was on a London...
Yes I know, the escalators are ideally placed to distribute people along the whole length of the train. Ideal, except for those like me who try to sit in the furthest away quietest part of the train away from stairs, ticket barriers etc .. Like I said, it was more a rant than anything !!
As for...
Yes of course they must, and this is mainly in jest, but as a regular traveller back and forth between Bristol and Paddington at all different times of day who makes a point of trying to sit in the queitest part of the train ( the Bristol end ) I am always annoyed by Reading, as whichever...
Perhaps they should have done a "soft launch" quietly releasing tickets a week or so before what seems to have been a media and publicity blitz instead of doing it all on the same day. ( although see my earlier post on page 2, they unofficially accidentally sort of did this !)
Last week the link to what was then a blank page saying "buy tickets here" came up for half a day on the alsthom website . Guess they were testing it. Luckily I bookmarked it and yesterday the blank page became live and I grabbed two tickets ! I checked at 8am this morning and the page was...
Oops, yes sorry it was a mistake, that was the second class fare, I did pay £70, just looked up credit card statement, sorry ! I will correct my original post, but availability was way better
Just come across this as well. A few weeks ago I booked a peak Advance First class ticket from Bristol to London two days beforehand and it cost me (corrected from earlier, sorry!) about £70 , now all the advance tickets for weeks ahead at many times seem to have vanished and the price for the...
It isn't tickets being checked that frustrates me, it is that almost every time I have witnessed people not having a ticket or not having the correct ticket, there have been no consequences.
Invariably the people concerned look "tougher" or "prettier" than the ticket inspector and they get let...
I made my journey but no-one checked tickets anyway !
By the way, re st pancras, I regularly use Folkestone to Bristol tickets and they never work the barrier at st pancras despite being valid on journey planners. Always have to have manual "check".
Apologies if this has been asked before. I can't find it in a search.
Journey is from A to C via B.
The return fares A to C return and B to C return are almost identical so for the return journey later I want my ticket to be from A to C return.
Train leaves A at 0930 then change trains at B...
No, no deer or foxes in here but just noticed ( 0810 29th May ) a 30 second long patch of very severe hunting ( side to side movement ) about five minutes into tunnel going westbound from Ebbsfleet towards Stratford. Don't think it is the coach ( South Eastern Javelin) as ride has been fine all...
Re stopping Bristol trains, it isn't just the actual "speed" it is the "within the carriage" issues of the stop itself. Leaving paddington, having nicely settled into a quiet part of the train to find five minutes later a crowd of people getting on turning what had been your carefully chosen bit...
