Didn't know it was a train crew site, when I asked people who worked there around 5 years back they told me it is satellite site and the drivers are from Stoke Gifford.
Only one way to find out. When I was managing HGV drivers I had a 71 year old driver who was running circles around the younger guys. Think he is still there a year after I left .
Not the railway granted but life experience was really desirable to me.
Granted on this occasion your age may not allow you to be considered on this occasion.
For the future I wouldn't assume you may get overlooked entirely based solely on work exprience (unless you work for Derek Trotter every job should have risk assessments and method statements written for...
Completely depends on the company you are applying with. Some are quicker than others in terms of time it may take. It depends how quickly they need to recruit and number of courses they need to fill or have.
Also some companies will advertise specifically for a talent pool and not an actual...

That was very quick, but from what I have seen GWR trainee vacancies go extremely quick. I think I missed 2 or 3 chances to apply in the last 12 months so I would check their careers page daily instead of relying on the email alert.
Not sure everyone I know who applied didn't get through the testing stages. I would be intrested to know as they should be in the classroom by now to hit the november target.
When I had my interview with DB back in 2014 they were doing work out there then and were keen to take people on who wanted to take the leap but I am not sure if they still do the work.
I know the advert was up for around 30 hours by the time I had the time to apply the advert was pulled. Lesson learnt and all set up on the first site now just hoping Bristol or Exeter come on again (think I am in for a long wait )
