For anyone who wants to become a train Driver, read the different posts on all topics and be resourceful because all info is on these pages. I joined here some time ago, took what I needed and luckily got on the course. Today was the last day of my ica and I'm now a train Driver. It's all...

    Drugs Screening

I took a urine test and had it cleared within minutes. There were lines on the outside of the sample that needed to show up clearly to rule out different substances. If these are not clear, then they will be sent to a lab for further testing.

    Group Bourdon Tool

The memory test is quite important because when it comes to actual on the job training, you will be expected to learn and remember vast amounts of info related to safety, traction and route knowledge. For the assessment test it's advisable to extract what you believe to be 'key points' and make...

Do as the question asks and write a brief summery [no more than a few lines] of 'a time or situation when you...'. During the interview you will be asked to explain your answer fully in a structured way. You'll be asked why you did certain things and how you felt about it at the time. Try...

3 Assessments for different jobs passed.

You may not need to reapply for Driver/Conductor positions. Such positions, especially Driver can take a very long time to get to interview stage. You may get a nice surprise is 6 - 12 months time. Anyway, good luck!

How are you guys managing your weight in the job?

I try to stay away from snacking on rubbish food like, crisps and chocolate - I take things like, flavoured almonds instead. I also watch the carb intake so will opt for meat salad/veg and stay away from bread, pasta potato where possible. Also, as everyone says, regular exercise is...

Psychometric Testing for prospective trainee drivers

I think the materials sent out by the TOC is the best to prepare you for what you do on the day. You can buy all types of software but it is overpriced, full of errors and not likely to help you on the day. The Group Bourdon free download is very helpful for the concentration test. Do...

    Query about MMI

Train driver training is changing so there is less time spent in a classroom and you are asked to complete a lot of online modules using an iPad. You are very much in control of your own learning so where as OU courses may not have been good examples of experience/skills in the past, they...

    Query about MMI

They will want to know your motivation for doing the course, how you went about it, if there were any set backs or challenges, how you dealt with them and of course, the end result and how you felt about it. If you look at the person specification for the job, you will see the...

    Query about MMI

I think this is perfectly acceptable. Open University shows you have dicipline and are committed to learning [as long as you see the course through!]. I used it as an answer during my driver line managers interview and there were no problems for me. You just need to structure your answer...
