Congratulations on your pass and note your advice, I'll take it steady. It does get more challenging as you progress through the pages.

Incidentally, on the trp1 was it the glop memory test?

The idea of the GBT is for it not to get challenging the more you do as it is consistency and accuracy that they want.

Hi.

Do most services still go for the GBT, or the SCAAT?

I much prefer the SCAAT, so I was just wondering...

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to save the Group Bourdon tests? (as pdf files or something) My printer has packed in and I was looking to save them and then email them to allow me to print them off on another printer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From a person who just recently done the GBT, i would say not to study this too much as the pc program and it's printouts are not representative of the actual test. i in total used the program 4 or 5 times and was only completing 8/9 lines with some omissions and i also printed it out one of those times i was terrbile with like only 9 lines and loads of omissions! Only like the day before my test i actually got 0 omissions then decided that any more of it would mash up my eyes.

Doing the test itself i completed about 10 - 12 lines per page and i passed, there's much more things to worry about on stage 1, especially if you need to get enhanced pass standards.

So what is the difference between the version on here and the actual assessment if you don't mind sharing?
I've only today got round to having a shot on the computer and I omitted 1 and completed 9 lines on every page. I imagine on paper I'd be quicker and not looking at a screen would make it easier too. I intend to practice 1 test a day for the week leading up to an assessment if I apply anywhere and I'm fortunate enough to be asked to attend an assessment centre but won't be holding my breath as I know competition is fierce with the volume of applicants that TOCs receive.

I am currently preparing for a MMI, there is a vacancy coming up so i thought ill prepare a little considering a messed up the WAFV Vig test. Ia m looking to do more revision on the TEA-OCC (GLOP) test because my last attempt I passed but my score was apparently low.
Can anyone advise hows best to prepare on the GLOP memory test. I thought about reading articles and making notes, then after a few mins try to write down as much information I can.

The memory test is quite important because when it comes to actual on the job training, you will be expected to learn and remember vast amounts of info related to safety, traction and route knowledge.

For the assessment test it's advisable to extract what you believe to be 'key points' and make notes on them. Reading things over a few times to make sure you understand what you are being taught, rather than just remembering the text is helpful too.

I would say though, if anyone finds this part of the assessment difficult, they are very likely to struggle when it comes to actual training.

I think that there is one of those Richard McMunn books available that deals with the rVCE exercise which comes with a CD. You listen to a passage on a CD and are asked to make a verbal account of what you have understood from the passage.

I find it surprising there are 29 pages on this thread

This test really isn't at all hard or is it just me who thinks that?

I found the Stage one enjoyable and surprisingly easy

Certainly a walk in the park compared to the interviews

This might be an odd question, but can someone tell me how many columns each page of the bourdon test should have?

Is the amount of columns in the computer test the same as the paper one?

I disagree with you. So when you get into your driver training do they hand out learning assessments and expect you to have them memorised within a 7min timescale? The Glop test is there simply to tests the basics of your short term memory and to give a very brief indication to the TOC that you can hold information. I bet there are tons of qualified drivers out there who are very competent at their jobs who maybe got a borderline pass with the Glop test....

Hi all, I've used the tool a few times for practice but I've been asked to do an online minSCAAT test, in what way does it differ from the one available on the tool ?

Personally, I would not waste time trying to find the link. I would email it to him but certain mail programs such as Hotmail may not allow exe files to be conveyed so change the file extension, if need be, then tell him to change it back to .exe on receipt.

TDK, I would say, is a leading authority on train driver recruitment, who is reputed for encouraging candidates to aim for zero omissions on the Group Bourdon test rather than going hell for leather.

Not quite sure about the connection with audio take, but yes, TDK were one of the more prominent manufacturers of cassettes. AFAIK TDK on the forum is in the driving grade also.

who is the TDK by the way?!?
Is that a tape , I remember from good old times Sony TDK or something like this...?

Hahaha, this made me chuckle. In fact TDK were the leading brand at one time but my nick name has nothing to do with tapes.

My first attempt. My assessment day is on monday. Got bored of the practice materials the TOC provided me so I decided to start practicing the proper one. Most of the 14 omitted are because I kept mashing the right arrow and overshooting the pattern, forgetting that it only allows one space back to correct errors.

Overall Statistics:
-------------------

Perception & Attention:

Targets Omitted ------------ 14
Marked Incorrect ----------- None

Speed:

Total Cells ---------------- 1126
Mean Cell Time ------------- 0.336
Median Cell Time ----------- 0.280

Completed Rows ------------- 42
Mean Row Time -------------- 8.422
Median Row Time ------------ 8.380

Vigilance:

Row Fluctuation ------------ 4.21

---------------------------------------------

Edit: Did another attempt and managed another hundred cells, 2 omissons and 2 incorrect.

pants! is it the number of faults that is the failing aspect, or am i not fast enough either?

This has been explained by myself on this thread time and time again. The assessor will say "we are looking for consistency and accuracy" speed is not mentioned. 90% of failures are down to people trying to take false advice and go hell for leather. No omissions and no mistakes is the only way to pass this very easy part of the assessment.
