Got an interview with NR next week in Eastleigh yay !

Good lad, remember it's safety, safety and more safety that they want to hear and don't forget to emphasise the value of good comms,it doesn't matter what you are on the railway, they are obsessive about communications especially the company that you have applied to!.Try to know a bit about what you are putting in for and what you will be doing, most of which is on the internet,or on the various forums...Good luck!.

Quick one mate, do you already work on the railway/have rail experience?

Hi Jay

I worked for EWS 11 years ago on a 6 month temp contract that is the only rail experience I have.

Thanks for advice, the job is for a mobile flash butt welder which is an amazing piece of equipment when I saw what it did online, one manufacturers website showed one being operated by indian railway and the guy was operating it wearing sandals and a tee shirt !

My interview went well but I was phoned today to be told I was unsuccessful as others had more experience, the manager said I had done well at the interview, I have also applied for this role at Newport so I am keeping my fingers crossed I get a chance to show what I can do if I get the job.

That is one of the biggest problems. How can you get the experience if no one will give you a chance? Best of luck with Newport.
