I've just read this thread from three weeks ago, just before I managed to get on here more frequently again.

I have to say, it made me laugh big time! Although I might decide against teaching Starmie the move 323Bash, as it sounds like a physical move and Starmie is optimised for Special attacks which would reduce its effectiveness...

Meanwhile, in news that actually matters, those of you in or near Manchester (*cough* gnolife *cough*) might be interested by this article.

Finally, another recent Forum Search has shown that the word "Twerp" has now appeared on RailUK in 147 separate posts (including this one). Of those, 115 were in the Quiz Forum - and 83 of those were in Name the Station. Way to go Dan

Also, in relation to the videos I accidentally found on Dailymotion last month, I have since found another.

USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN WATCHING THIS VIDEO!

Copy the following "nonsense" into a Google Search, and see what it comes up with. I am doing things this way to avoid the video coming up instantly which might cause some problems. And note that the above warning is genuine - and that I won't listen if anyone blames me for landing them in hospital ;)

You can probably guess what it is now.

So someone got around to using a Revive on you

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be ably to make use of that for two reasons. Firstly, I still haven't got any of the Generation V games. I know, shocking really, but I've been quite happy with my Sammi (that's Chikorita to you guys), and, I've also been replaying Colosseum and Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue team

Has anyone come up against anyone who had a very annoying moveset for example, the FEAR set?

I've used an Umbreon in tourney that annoyed a couple of people.

EVs all in HP and Defense/Special Defense, and the moveset; Toxic, Wish, Protect, Return
The battle took a while, all I was doing was starting off with Toxic, then using Wish and Protect for the rest of the battle. Luckily for me he didnt have a fighting or a bug type :)

Morning all.

Just a quick update. I've now beaten the Elite 4 with Sammi at level 71. I'm going to tackle the Kanto gyms in the same order as they are supposed to be completed in Generation 1.

Its the one in Fuschia City (I've forgotten the name) that I'm really dreading - I have really bad luck with Poison types. I've had to spend a bloody fortune on Antidotes and potions on bog-standard trainers.

Unfortunately, this is going to have to go on hold, because my battery charger's died a death (I'm playing on a Pikachu and Pichu Game Boy Color)

Some new news from the Pokémon Youtube Account:

And the anime is also expected to be released in Japan around the same time when the game is released worldwide. Sadly though, Ash is still in the anime along with pikachu. I wonder who will his travelling companions will be and whether the pokemon from gen I to gen IV will be in it more frequently?

I wuld hope so. Part of the reason they weren't in BW much early on was because Unova was supposed to be a new place with no old Pokemon (save for Eastern Unova); this time, we know old ones are part of the package given al the hype about the Fairy-type.

Speaking of which, wat do you guys think of the Fairy-type? I quite like it personally; the obvious thing to do is to think of it as "faerie" instead of "fairy". So long as we get more along te lines of Tolkein fantasy fairies and less along the lines of Tinkerbell - or Navi <( - I think it'll work well. And it's good that they've introudced it to weaken Dragons too.

Hey! Listen!

While I think that the Dragon type is overpowered, I think that, based on the currently announced Pokémon of the type, a lot of people will view it as something ofca "girly' type and therefore boycott it a little bit. I personally don't subscribe to that point of view on them (well, given that my favourite species of Pokémon is considered to be the 'girly' choice of Gen2 starter, plus the fact that Gardevoir is another Pokémon that I tend to put in my teams, id be being a little bit hypocritical if I chose to avoid the Fairy type because of it). I am not going to judge whether I think its a strong or weak type until after I know exactly what types they are effective and ineffective against.

I'm in favour of Fairy. Dragon type Pokémon were too powerful since the only weaknesses they had were either another Dragon Type or an Ice Type attack and the only ones who could resist Dragon Types moves were Steel Types. If you needed to outsmart a Dragon Type Pokémon (without counting double type ones) you would had either a Steel Type or a Ice Type Pokémon.

With Fairy Type you get a new chance to counter-attack a Dragon Type Pokémon. Either if it is a Fairy Pokémon or a Fairy Move.

Though, there is still a lot to know about this new type. The only information there is is that it's super effective against Dragon Type Pokémon, period. It would be also very useful if Fairy Moves were effective against Ghost and Dark Pokémon, specially since Jigglypuff is a Normal and Fairy Pokémon, it could put a end to the struggle between Normal and Ghost Pokémon.

Magic has been very unpredictble in fantasy settings against ghosts and evil (often portrayed as one of course). It would'nt make sense if it was good on one but not the other.

I can't help thinking Gardy's in even more boo-boo against the likes of Spiritomb and others now :(

Hey! Listen!

Go crash into a wall. Oh wait, you did that in the intro movie

I just cant get my head round it. I can be sat with my mates and two of them will go off on a tanjent about it. Then me and my other mate would look at each other and say something about them being obsessed. Then we would say we dont get it. I would then ask them to explan it. After which I would have to say "I still dont get it". So thats why I dont like it.

What do people think of Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle being available as starters in X and Y.

Personally, I think it's an interesting idea, but not necessarily a good one - I think that a lot of people will go for their favourite Gen 1 starter, for the nostalgia value of them, which is a shame, because I personally really like the designs of them.

I'm going to completely contradict what I've just said though, and say that I'm hoping that when Gen 7 comes out (way off in the future sometime), they reuse the idea, and have the Gen 2 starters available (since my favourite Pokemon is one of them).

I don't think they should be available from the very beginning but to follow the Yellow route and have all three of the Gen 1 starters somehow given to you. Like you I think a lot of people will pick Gen 1 instead of the new pokemon

... and have the Gen 2 starters available (since my favourite Pokemon is one of them).

Gee whiz, I wonder who that could be? <D

The initial problem I can see for the moment is the lower proportion of people not choosing Fennekin at the beginning of the game, because of the Torchic promo. This of course depends on whether Fennekin becomes a Fire/Fighting

Holy mother, how did I miss the forum Pokémon thread?! You could have made it slightly more obvious that this exists, Ivo!

I've just read this thread from three weeks ago, just before I managed to get on here more frequently again.

That was MY posting thank you very much :D And thanks again for having informed me of the existence of this thread, all of you..!

Meanwhile, in news that actually matters...

Wow, thank you very much! I feel like I've been burnt... By a Charizard... MEGA CHARIZARD!.

In BW116 Charizard returns to Ash's party in place on Unfezant and quickly develops a red-hot rivalry with the Dragonite which had been http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/BW089 (and bonded with) recently by Iris. In the ensuing battle (not long before the infamous N ends the proceedings), Iris questions how Dragon Rush does not does as much damage to Charizard as she expects. Ash breaks it to her that Charizard is Fire/Flying as opposed to Fire/Dragon (Dragon-type moves are only super effective against their own type). I've heard that Charizard, Aerodactyl and Gyarados might have been planned with Dragon as the secondary type (as opposed to Flying) but that it was changed at the request of guys who wanted to keep the type exclusively to the GI Dratini/Dragonair/Dragonite family (with only the Water/Dragon Kingdra evolution having been added for GII).

What must make Iris really peeved though is that not only is the new Fairy type super effective against Dragon, and that Dragon-type moves have no effect on Fairy, but Fire-type Pokéms like Charizard are resistant against Fairy attacks! Who cares if Stealth Rock murders it?! Charizard is pretty much my favourite! (Which reminds my that my sister still has my plush Charizard GRRR)

(Although generally I'm not that decisive on many things, Charizard, Lapras, Tropius, Giratina, Articuno as well as Rotom and the Yamask, Tympole, Ralts and Skitty families are just some of my likes!)

Which of course it will be, because Game Freak love to take the Mankey... (OK, that is taking the Mickey!)

I'm all for the idea of Bulba etc being available. But this is mainly because - as my temporary avatar from a few months ago showed - I'm going for Froakie, and I would quite happily go for any of the Kanto three. Do I add Torchic to the list and thus choose Bulba by default? Hmm...

Oh, and for everyone who is bothered, yes I do still exist, and sorry to DAB_Move for not making this thread more obvious.

I think my sisters/friends will plan to get different starters from myself, as we will breed them individually and distribute them. And of course, there may yet be sequel(s) to come. Also considering a shared PokéBank thingy.

You're forgiven, I'll spare you from any 323-related, 25kV punishment :D

In other news, I'm setting out to pre-order my Limited Edition 3DS XL XY console in Red today, along with a copy of Y while I pick up 3 Palkia for my GV games :D [Done.]

And there I was laughing at how Charizard is resistant to Fairy whilst retaining some other Dragon properties...

I'm quite annoyed - my 3DS (Animal Crossing) has broken with less than a week before X and Y release - the bloody hinge on it snapped when I went to play it this evening

I won't lie, after seeing some new megas, Abomasnow, Gengar and Gyarados, as well as the evolutions of Skrelp, Oorotto (Trevenant), being confirmed as Grass/Ghost alongside a three evolution stage for Honedge - I feel like I have more ghosts to play with than I ever did before.

I'm torn between megas though, I guess they will change on the team I'm using clearly.

I wasn't too excited before... The final starter evolutions are, shall we say random? But I am deadly excited.

Pre-ordered with Amazon, hoping my game will arrive Friday, as I know they sometimes send games out early to ensure they arrive in time for release date.

Unlucky mate, had the dreaded hinge crack on my 07-bought DSL White, but the early ones were supposedly prone to an over-tightened hinge. Bought a Guitar Hero DSL as replacement (much better in that department) and selling the previous very shortly.

Picked up my 3DS XL XY Red Limited Edition on launch day, September 27, in readiness for this Saturday's Y :D Hope you can organise something.

About time this thread was restarted eh?

Well, XY has been well and truly launched. I've got Y, starting with a Froakie tribute to Ivo of course! Random idea I had was that I get ye faithful people of the internet to nickname the rest of my team. Dunno how I'd get it to work though. Also, is anyone up for adding me somehow ;) I've hardly yet figured the game out yet. Keep us updated everyone.
