HAHA! Oh boy oh boy!
I was trying to make light of it son!
As I said, I meant no malice, where was the derogatory remark in my post??
It sounds like you've had a very successful sense of humour by pass!
You need to work on your attitude son.
You'l certainly not get very far in the rail industry, especially as a driver with an attitude like that!
Believe me when I say this,
your heading for a very big fall if you truly believe that driving a train is like a ""few hundred ton lorry on tracks""
How do you expect to remain calm when the pressures on, or your in an emergency situation with a few hundred passengers behind you relying on you to keep your cool and do the right thing? Meanwhile ex squaddie here has thrown his dummy outa the pram because some one tried to have a joke!
That's the funniest thing ive heard this year.
You are sadly deluded young man.
I suggest you maybe try a job test driving mobility scooters!

Infact, the more I think about your childish little out burst on what was some thing so light hearted and innocent that meant absolutely no harm whatsoever,
The more I really do think you are not train driver material.
And the folk weeding out the short tempered nutters will see through you soon enough.
Have a great day.

Well said.
Most people have no idea of what is involved when driving a train.
Most people who apply are not suited to driving trains.
The odd one who gets through usually doesn't drive trains for very long.

Perhaps join a few of your lorries together, remove the brakes and then drive them for 5 hours wearing a blindfold and you may just be a little closer

Eh?

I agree with first point but I'm not sure what point your making on other two here..

Are there 2 roles available, a Trainee Driver and a Driver Operator or is it 1 role and you go from Trainee to Qualified Driver Operator to Qualified Mainline Driver?

Sorry if this is daft question but want to put the right info for postion applied for!

Trainee driver is for mainline driving and the driver operator is for depot driving. I think it depends which depot you apply for as to what positions are available, I was told at the depot interview which role the interview was for.

Just got may email reply back. Sent my Application in Monday morning in Word 2003-2007 format. Thought I would post for those who haven't heard yet. Seems they are working through them steadily. Don't give up hope people, it will be worth the patience.

On the application form it says "include the job which you are applying for in the email title/subject".

So do you choose one or the other I.e, Trainee Driver Operator OR Trainee Driver, or do you put Trainee Driver/Operator as per the vacancy listing?

Having sat in on the odd driver interview several years ago, and having a mate who does many interviews currently, it is my opinion that most people who get through to interview stage will never go any further.
Occasionally though the wrong people do get through all the stages and actually, and I must say amazingly, pass out. I have seen a couple of people over the years who fall into this category. None of them drive trains anymore.

Glad a few minds have been set to ease today with emails, felt like I'd sent you all into panic mode the other day when I sent mine in and posted about getting a reply! I'd probably just sent mine and so was at the top of the email list when they started replying to confirm safe receipt! Good look to everyone... and now we play the waiting game :)

Hi

I've had a phone call from DBS HR asking if they can remove my application for the recent vacancies (still short listed else where).

This intake is for the 2015 intake in those locations and if you haven't received confirmation don't worry has this all kicks off with testing in september if your successful.

Hope this helps some of you.

But I haven't read all previous replies so apologise if already been posted

I resubmitted mine in the end last night.

Did it from my home email with Trainee Driver as the title. Got a receipt of acknowledgement this morning. So glad I did it and I'm assuming it was not acknowledged first time as the title read Release-authorised: Trainee Driver. Simple thing but instructions are instructions.

FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY!!! :D
DBS have acknowledged safe arrival of my application form via email! I'm happy enough just with that for now.
Now I have a couple of months to straighten out finances, get my head in the game and do some revision, research into the company and do some mock assessments! :)

If you get through to an Assessment that is.

Indeed. I meant that I would take mock tests of the assessments on some of the sites that have the tools to do so.
As for getting my finances straight I have to do that anyway but if it comes round that I do pass the assessments, pass the interview and get on the training them at least I'm prepared for the big pay drop. :)

I posted my application this morning.
Nothings changed on the application form since January when I applied for Tyne Yard and was rejected at the application stage regardless of my years of railway service.

I just put an application in and see what happens.

Hi all, joined up to post in this thread. Emailed my application on Monday evenino and had a confirmation email yesterday morning (Tuesday).

A tip for you all with the signature section, I wrote my signature with a drawing app on my phone and pasted it from a screencap into the document. Easier than messing about with scanners! :)

I've applied for Bristol and currently live in Cardiff, a bit of a commute if I'm successful and will certainly have to downsize my car from a V8 - at least initially :)

I'm 23 and currently work for Cardiff Bus, been here almost 3 years and I've been driving buses since I was 18. Worked for a coach company previously so I've worked all hours of the day and night - I don't think I could ever work a 'normal' job!

Best of luck to you all and I hope to be posting in a few months that I've got the job :)

I am currently doing some prep for a forthcoming assessment, can anyone comment if using the STAR method for the MMI is required for this part of the test or is it best used in the DM interviews.

I got my reply too! After a phone call. She said that she was getting through th last 300 applications, which sounds like there were far more than that!
This is only my second time at applying, the first being freightliner which I wasn't successful for. But fingers crossed for everyone!

Just a tip for anyone who still hasn't put one it, there is no need for any messing around with anything. Electronic signatures are accepted, which means you simply have to type your name in. It doesn't mean an 'electronic' copy of your actual signature.

Agree - I just typed my name in the box. Electronic Signature just means that by sending the document electronically, it is assumed that you have "signed" it and accepted any terms within it.
Got an acknowledgement email back on Monday. :)
