Can I tap into the collective knowledge of the forum by asking if you know of examples of railway depots opening or being refurbished in (approximately) the last 10 years?

I can think of a few but they tend to be quite focused on the geographical areas I know best!

Re=opening of Allerton, Liverpool. Maintain Northern (SOUTH) 156 Fleet to take pressure off Newton Heath. I say South because Northern have another fleet of 156s based at Heaton.

Soon to include Long Rock - Refurbishment on the way, Exeter Depot - Has been refurbished and expanded a little, Bristol St Phillips Marsh - Has been expanded to include the West Fleet (included the taking over of the former Fastline facility).

New ones under construction at the moment that I can think of are:
Stoke Gifford - IEP Depot under construction as will a new Depot be in Swansea.
Millerhill - Edinburgh - New depot under construction for the Edinburgh - Glasgow Electric Fleet.

Stourbridge Junction & Banbury are both about ten years old. There is probably going to be a shed at Banbury before much longer too. Birmingham Moor Street has only existed since late 2010, but really it was just a relocation of Chiltern's Tyseley depot which opened in 97.

Coventry isn't much more than ten years old either.

How about North Pole with the work currently being carried out for Hitachi?

Shields Road Depot in Glasgow was expanded in 2010 for the then new 380s, with a new shed being specifically built for the units.

Ashford refurbishment for Hitachi trains
Etches Park, Derby

Etches Park???? The depot has been there since the 1960's! The maintenance facility has been extended in the last ten years but it certainly isn't a new depot!

Oops sorry  Just realised that the original post also asked for refurbished depots!

Am I right in thinking Strawberry Hill and Farnham Depots both received an upgrade / refurbishment not that long ago as well? With Strawberry Hill doing some of the work on the Desiros.

Apology accepted.

Have any of the depots listed above been built on virgin non-railway land? Or are they generally refurbs and extensions to accommodate newer rolling stock on existing railway land?

These 2 are on railway land.

Northam used to be sidings and a cement terminal IIRC.
Filton IEP depot used to be a ballast tip with ballast cleaning and recycling.
