Dont expect all the trains to Leeds and Edinburgh to drop by that much, it will just be headline trains like with the West Coast.
And more generally - privitisation was supposed to improve service through competition, yet we have the same company running trains on both routes to Scotland.
Did they inform the East Coast Staff ahead of the public announcement?
Checked out their interactive station map on the DfT website and Stirling is not only getting IEP but one extra morning service to and from London.
By 2020 all of the 65 modern high-speed electric trains will be in service and will replace 39 existing trains.
At seat ordering of food! Trolley service ??
Sad day for East Coast passengers!
Don't think so.
Bull****,Profits, then staff way behind these priorities!!
Heres hoping its a disaster and a massive failure.
DOR runs very well and it is spiteful blind Tory ideology behind this.

Well heres one very happy basher! Given the recent reports on here of E-Stars manky trains, expensive food and lackluster service I'd been starting to dread them getting it but VT are a company I respect and enjoy using so best of luck to them. I wonder what the refurb of existing trains includes, given the new ones are coming in a few years?
Stagecoach said:£13.4m planned spend in the first two years of the franchise to improve the existing train fleet. An initial deep clean of the entire fleet, with refurbished toilets, new carpets and seat covers, new and clearer on-train signage, plus other enhancements.
That's correct, they are not allowed to inform staff in advance of an announcement to the stock market.Wouldn't have thought so as it would affect movement on the stock market
Inter City Railways is 90% owned by Stagecoach, but trains will be branded 'Virgin Trains East Coast', Stagecoach said.
So stagecoach essentially have a monopoly on intercity routes going north out of London.
We are excited to work with East Coast's great group of talented people, who we know will bring to life that famous and much-loved Virgin spirit under the new franchise. Amazing staff were the driving force behind the West Coast transformation, and I am sure having a wonderful team on East Coast will help us reach fresh heights there too.
We look forward to welcoming you aboard the Virgin Trains East Coast journey next year
No - this is referring to the mobile app. From the statement by Stagecoach, it looks likes they plan to keep the Foodbar (at least for now) as they refer to offering Nectar points at it.
Virgin said:We are delighted to have been chosen to run the East Coast Network with our partner Stagecoach and look forward to launching Virgin Trains East Coast service this spring.
No more East Coast rewards
I agree that it's a sad day but I do think it should be successful and couldn't have gone to more deserving winners
