I've just been told you only get accommodation if you're travelling a long distance. I'm coming from Bridgend so they won't provide me accommodation the night before, they'll just pay for my train journey in in the morning.

You won't be invited to a medical until you have been offered a position on a course. How long you will be waiting for that is anybodies guess.
Congrats on getting through to the talent pool though.

I wouldn’t worry about course dates now, you’re in the pool and that’s what matters, courses will be running back to back and less than 12 weeks in between, so 2 courses running at once, and that’s just the north. It’s going to get very busy in that training centre at Chester. Good luck.

Thanks guys

Yeah asked questions but didn't get much really. 1st course 7th jan, 9 people per course. Get course date based on how well you did in f2f interviews (we were scored). No info about further courses /info. They said they're usually able to tell people where they are in the waiting list but they can't this time because of the amount of people and some people haven't done their assessments yet so it could change. Talent pool lasts up to 3 years. Think that's it really!

Well done to all those that have passed. Does anyone actually know when all the assessments will be finished? I assume most people want to know if they can get on the Jan course, but seems to be running a bit close to the bone!

Well the latest one I've heard about is yours so I'm kinda hoping yours is the last one and then maybe we might hear some more in December? Totally guessing though I've no actual idea

Cheers mate, think I'm going to chill now until night before assessments. I've done quite a bit of work but seem to be going backwards now, so time for a break & spend some time with the family.

Yep deff agree with that. You can get a mindslide from all the prep u do. Take a break, you will feel the benefits.

Yeah I think I could be amongst the last to go. I stated at interview I need to give a months notice and I'm sure others are in a similar position so they will have to notify people soon. Ironically I had forgotten I had applied for a trainee senior conductor Job with WMT ages ago. In the last 3 weeks I've done their assessments, ftf interview, medical and have been offered a starting date of 7/1/19! That's efficient! It's based very close to home so If next week doesn't go to plan all is not lost. It's like waiting for a bus!! You couldn't write it! Sod's law beckons and I will pass assessments and be offered the same same starting date as conductor role!! Lol

I was told today that not everyone got an assessment date and I'm pretty sure she said that these people who don't have dates yet should be doing their assessments within weeks. I expect they want everyone done asap. She did however ask me if I was to be called next week for a medical to begin the course in January would I be able to. So this implies to me that they won't be waiting for everyone to complete the assessments before they start allocating courses.

They didn't seem to be incredibly forthcoming with info but I suppose they can't tell us what they don't know! I asked do they have a specific amount of drivers that they are looking to recruit which they replied yes but then said they want as many people in the talent pool as possible to put on future courses etc. So kind of dodged that question really and I got the general feeling they didn't want to go into specifics. Weekend celebrations are already under way!

I’m awaiting an assessment date still, due to them cancelling & only offering me one date that I couldn’t make. They said it’s likely to be until the New Year now as the current assessments were all full. Didn’t state what date the last ones were though
