Do Pacers still run from Piccadilly Manchester
yes loads of 142s.Do Pacers still run from Piccadilly Manchester
Do we know what destinationsyes loads of 142s.
Sheffield / Marple / New Mills Central / Rose Hill Marple are some of the destinations.Do we know what destinations
Plus Chester (via Altrincham), and I think they can turn up on Liverpool via Warrington Central servicesSheffield / Marple / New Mills Central / Rose Hill Marple are some of the destinations.
Looking up i cant see any pathed
If you're using publically available train times websites then that's not surprising: The rolling stock information they convey are (fairly general) timing loads, not necessarily what type of train is booked to operate a certain service.Looking up i cant see any pathed

Thanks for that infoThey can run to 150 timings so may not be pathed as 14x.
This purely says what the timing load (i.e. the basis of the calculations for acceleration, deceleration and top speed) is. For many services where 100% accuracy isn't critical, this will be a generic timing load that bears no relation to the actual stock running the service.I use the realtraintimes website
Ah ok so its a matter of seeing if it turns up as a Pacer ?This purely says what the timing load (i.e. the basis of the calculations for acceleration, deceleration and top speed) is. Yeah, just timing loads then.I use the realtraintimes website
With operators that have a fleet as large and varied as Northern do, a timing load of "15x" could mean just about any of their fleet (though likely the diesel contingent of it), pretty much, yes. What gets sent out will vary from day to day depending on the availability of stock (i.e. what's being maintained and what's working).Ah ok so its a matter of seeing if it turns up as a Pacer ?

Anecdotally the Manchester Piccadilly to Rose Hill Marple or Hazel Grove services are often pairs of 142s, although they also share those duties with 150s. I've also caught a 142 on a Preston service from Piccadilly, but that's something that's likely to be a thing of the past soon as class 319s are introduced to the route.
Thanks for the valuable info , i'm hoping to ride a few before they are taken off altogether, last time i did was 20 years ago so its a nostalgia thing plus i wish to film photograph a fewWith operators that have a fleet as large and varied as Northern do, a timing load of "15x" could mean just about any of their fleet (though likely the diesel contingent of it), pretty much, yes. For smaller sub-fleets, diagrams are usually more accurate, and track particular units through the services they are scheduled to operate throughout the day. But until the Pacers become rarer, it'll be a hit and miss game unfortunately... Perhaps ironically, when there are fewer of them left it's possible there might be some more stable diagrams.
If you get yourself a walk-up ticket or a ranger/rover of some description, you would be very unlucky not to bag yourself at least a couple if you go around the Manchester area. Thanks for the valuable info , i'm hoping to ride a few before they are taken off altogether, last time i did was 20 years ago so its a nostalgia thing plus i wish to film photograph a few
You shouldn't have to wait long at Man Picc when it comes to Pacers.I'm off there on Thursday so i'll hopefully catch a few
To obtain the full Pacer experience it's best to wait until it's raining so you can enjoy the raindrops running inside the window and down your leg, certainly if you are over 6ft in height and your having to sit with your knees splayed and hard up against the side of the carriage.I'm off there on Thursday so i'll hopefully catch a few
Stalyvegas
Plus Chester (via Altrincham), and I think they can turn up on Liverpool via Warrington Central services
And, therefore (same diagrams) Alderley Edge to/from Wigan. Sadly still.Manchester Vic has Pacers to Stalyvegas and Wigan North Western too.
You're a bit stuffed if you actually want to travel on them thoughOr go to ardwick station in manchester, you'll see everything on there.
The rose hills, marples, newton heath and longsight movements and the airport/stockport bound trains.
