There’s a weekly food fair held in the weekends at the back of Mayfield. Recently I saw some 80s police drama being filmed there. Seems a fair bit of activity!

I think the Mayfield Depot is hosting the Warehouse Project series of music events (raves) this year, having outgrown its previous location of Store Street car park under Piccadilly station

Camden Roundhouse is an established venue.

Waterloo International hosted two (possibly three) seasons of the Railway Children whilst closed to service trains

Barrow Hill has also held theatre performances

I've seen at least one fringe event in a tent in The Caley's car park and maybe a couple in a pub under the old Leith Central.

Am I right in thinking that long in the longer term it is due to be demolished?

I believe so. The reason may be the state of the building (if so, why can it be used as a venue?) or eventual enlargement of platforms 13/14 to 15/16 (I doubt I'll ever see the day). But many on here will know the absolute correct answer.

I think a trick has been missed, Mayfield could have been modernised and used as a shuttle terminus between there and the airport, thinking more spaces for taxis/buses and a walkway could extend from 13/14, maybe freeing up a bit of space in Piccadilly station itself.

As far as I recall from previous discussion threads, the main Mayfield station building itself doesn’t impact on the area needed for P15/16. I think the future demolition is to allow for property development.

Mayfield has been used for Manchester International Festival events too in the last few years.
It hosted a splendid dramatic/dance performance based on Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities about a month ago. The space was ideally suited, with the audience in four corners of a square and the performers using the remaining cross-shaped space. The cast iron columns, brick vaults and occasional dripping water added to the effect without distracting from the theme.

Perhaps Mayfield Station could be the future terminus of Boris's new high-speed line to Leeds?

The former LUL station building at Shoreditch has been used for a few events over the years, mainly film screenings, although not recently.

By the same token, Charing Cross (Jubilee) has had film screenings, event launches and more, all in addition to the more commonly-mentioned film work.
