Did anyone else find themselves booking a trip during the BA sale? Final day was yesterday and while watching an aviation trip report on YouTube yesterday I couldn't resist the temptation to have a scout around for January 2020.
At one point I was looking at a short trip to Sofia, but the gut instinct got me looking at Poland instead. Which has been on my bucket list for far too long, and as I know virtually nothing about Bulgaria I put that one into the 'one day' pile. Apparently those flights were booked A320 out, A319 back, a detail which becomes more important in a moment. Considering it was around £122 for a 2 night stay, including flights and luggage, that wasn't bad whatsoever.
So I considered Warsaw but chose to look up Krakow first. Nice looking 3 star hotel, pretty close to the city centre, reasonably timed flights, but importantly these were showing as booked A321neo in both directions. Following my recent experience of this craft type with Wizz Air and liking the Neos that definitely got me reaching for the wallet. Flights, luggage and 2 nights at the hotel for £136 was a pretty reasonable figure, and before I knew it I'd booked it!
What is slightly crazy is that I am due to land at the mighty Heathrow on 14th January (around 10:45, so not too bad) from LAX. The morning after, I'm now due to take off again from Heathrow at 09:05. It's fair to say I'll be getting a good bit of air miles in during January 2020!
So after January 2020 my bucket list will compromise entirely of the Grand Canyon and New Zealand. How long it will take to get the list clear is presently unknown, but I seriously doubt it will take too long!
As for BA (I've been off the forum for a few days, catching up currently) I've had mixed experiences but none of them have been terrible. My best crew with BA were on my quick spin to Milan in 2017, and while the long-haul crews weren't amazing I chalk that up to really high expectations and a bad day.
I mean, they can't be that bad considering the majority of my forthcoming flights are on BA. For clarification, they are LHR-FRA, HND-LHR, LHR-LAX, LAX-LHR, LHR-KRK and KRK-LHR. Only one not on BA for the foreseeable is FRA-NRT on Japan Airlines!
