Am I reading that right? The RMT wanted productivity enchantments (amusing typo) for guards as the company was gaining? They want more money despite the guards doing less?

As stated earlier the GWR DCO dispute was supposedly also about Buffets on IETs & TUPE arrangements for maintenance staff but as with all similar disputes when they’ve actually got to ACAS all these additional concerns mysteriously almost disappear overnight aside from insisting on controlling doors

Yet again Mr Wilkinson and co. at the DFT are found to be the ones causing this whole charade across the country.

Doesn't matter who is in charge at the top of the franchises.

When will Mr Wilkinson appear before the public, IE his employers, to answer questions on the years of industrial action we've seen across the country.

Oh I'd love to meet him.
Who is "Mr. Wilkinson"? Says it all, doesn't it, that I've never heard the name - another "faceless bureaucrat"?

Both the rmt/swr meeting minutes and the acas summary arenvery interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Personally, something very revealing to me was the company's intention for all stock to be driver open where technically possible. As I've said since this dispute started but many people dismiss, including Paul Clifton regularly on South today and in print, this affects all depots.

All desiros have door open and close buttons on the drivers desk , just never been energised.

158/9 currently don't, but not beyond the realms of possibility to stick some in the can.

Interestingly when the 442 left set they had no door controls in can but GATEx had them installed so that the 442 could be doo.

It was a aslef requirement when the 442 returned to SWR that the controls were removed from the cab and they all have been, but again don't imagine would take too long to reinstate them (though not sure if GATEx dealt with SDO or not).

If guard closed isn't enshrined in a deal, then it's a slippery slope to driver close on other stock with assisted station staff dispatch that is used by Southern at certain locations.

The 701 have DOO cameras and cab monitors hence the rest would be driver open at best. The ultimate aim for the 701s in the inner area is train opens rather than driver opens doors with ABDO in addition to the now usual ASDO CSDE etc. for new stock.

Even if agreed I’d be surprised if modern H&S standards allowed older stock to operate DCO from anything other than an extremely small number of SWR stations without fitting body side cameras as was the case with 442s on Southern
