Just heard from @DanTrainMan185 in the TfW livery thread that 142073 appears to have been re-withdrawn presumably due to a chassis structural failure again - I wonder if TfW will ask the DfT for dispensation to operate one of the acquired ex-Northern 142s in its place...?

They are not on a nominated 142 agreed list for derogation so I shouldn't think any of them legally could

I think it's a hour from Pembroke Dock to whitland so with maybe a hold for 5 mins there and the 2nd platform back at Pembroke Dock it would be possible
That would be great to have the platform 2 back again at Pembroke dock and yes Pembroke Dock to whitland is a hour

Yes It is, I'm a tfw guard rather than a driver

A few Pacers seem to have escaped the valleys again today. 143601 is still on Pembroke docks whilst 142074 amd142081 are on Cheltenham/Gloucester diagrams
I saw 143601 locked out of use with PRM 150242 this morning on 2E07 saw it in Llanelli. Are you a Carmarthen guard?

So it would be possible given a reinstated platform 2 to have a hourly service even if only peek hours ? Ofc given tfw could get a extra 2 trains

Also wouldn't it be relatively cheap as in it only needs a short section of track the main platform could handle anything big while the second taking one and two car trains ?

Nothing is cheap where it comes to infrastructure projects. Two switches, some track, signalling, then any additional passenger facilities will need to meet modern day regulations (which often means a humungously big ramped footbridge). £10m gone before you've even blinked.

And then you've got the cost of running the additional services. Track access charges, fuel, maybe an additional unit leased and maintained, and then finally staffing costs. How many additional crew do you need to run the services. Each pair of staff (driver/guard) employed will probably cost best part of £100k pa, when you add in employers NI and pension costs to base salary.

It's cheap to a new line or station access is already flat just a tarmack path from bus station right next to the station to the platform just look on Google maps also the platform needs new tarmac but that a link and track isn't mega money let's face it it's alot to us but to a new line or a new train ect it isn't yes they would need another 2 trains which I did say but I think if they did it they would see a dramatic rise in users around here end of the day there is low demand as the times don't suit most people working if it was hourly during the peeks then it would result in more users

Another query from the new timetable is the the 0909 Milford Haven departure now terminates in Cardiff with another train going to Manchester. Still shows as a valid connection but wondered why this is the case? Assume its a different set that goes to Manchester but if so why does this happen?

That’s what I thought, could this have anything to do with the fire on Thursday? Happy to have seen it in Llanelli before it was finished for good

looks like it was out of service most of october, came back around the 24th and was used a handful of times in November and twice in december. 13/12/19 looks like its last day
Ah ok so this is another reason tfw are short they just lost another train

Sorry to be a spoilsport but just a gentle reminder that this thread is a Traction & Rolling stock discussion regarding Progress of delivery of cascaded/refurbished/PRM modified stock to TFW/Wales and Borders

It is not a "master thread" for anything else; any other discussions belong in a different thread.

Any suggestions/ideas belong in Speculative Ideas please.

Thanks :)

Strange considering they running to Penarth etc. Considering how short tfw are of stock if they can get the dft to agree I wouldn't be surprised to see a ex northern class 142 escape landlord mind you though what's the condition of the unit that was dropped of at Canton.

Traction on the Cheltenham runs today are 142, 150, 153 and 175. Conspicuous by it's absence is a 170 :lol:
