Out of interest, how did you travel there? Train or Coach? Or hire a car? I’ve considered this when planning Skopje to try and include Kosovo.

With the Balkans, I’ve visited Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. I’d very much like to visit the rest but the few flights there are tend to be at very awkward times, meaning an expensive hotel night at Luton. It also involves a lot more planning in comparison to the rest of Europe because, well, it’s the Balkans! I travelled to Bosnia alone too, and while it was absolutely fine (one of my favourite holidays in fact), I feel the Balkans are countries where the experience would be so much better travelling with someone else, especially at times when things go wrong (and they are quite likely to!).
I travelled by coach. It was a Mercedes Sprinter. I caused a bit of offence at the border as I asked for my passport to be stamped. It was misunderstood as not to stamp! Other passengers were visibly offended. I got a stamp leaving Kosovo.

There is Ryanair flights to Tirana, Albania now.

Was that by train? If so please can I ask when and what was the traction?
We only did a day trip but by car and took train from Fushe Kosove to Pristine so not exactly adventurous!
Was by coach. I cant recall if the train was running then.

Ok, thanks. Think trains a bit hit and miss between Skopje and Kosovo?
We did Wizz Air to Tirana, which was fine and quite reasonably priced.

I've only had a few brief trips outside of the UK as I'm not a fan of flying and only one of those was railway related.

France
Belgium (sort of)
Germany
Denmark
Sweden

First trip abroad was on one of HRT's Three Capitals railtours back in the late 90s. Did Waterloo to Paris Gare Du Nord then Brussels Midi and back in the day. Didn't leave the station in Brussels and just had a brief look out on the street in Paris.

Following that, did a couple of trips to Germany as part of a car club I was with. We'd drive across northern France to Saarbrucken where we'd base ourselves for 3 nights. First time I went, I escaped and had a look at Saarbrucken station one evening.
We also did a day trip to Le Touquet

Had another day out to Paris when I had a day to kill at the end of a London trip.

Last trip was 4 years ago to Sweden. I won coworker of the year for our store so the prize was a trip there. Flew out to Copenhagen before getting the train out to Almhult. The hotel was next to the station so when we had a bit of free time in the afternoon, I based myself there before dinner. On the return trip, I left Almhult first thing so that I could spend a few hours in Copenhagen before flying home.....a worthwhile decision.

All my trips have only been brief......3 days at most.

I've tried to sample the trains and trams when I can abroad. Most enjoyable for trains was Norway, and for trams Prague. I've been to:-
Czech Republic
Slovakia
Hungary
Norway
Sweden
Israel
Ireland
France
Austria

Isle of Man many times, but would not count as abroad!

In the UK I've covered the whole railway network, plus all the current tram systems.

All for railway projects- must say South Korea or Hong Kong were more welcoming!

plus the usual holiday spots in the US, Europe and Caribbean

At what point does East become West?
I go by its longitude. The antimeridian is commonly accepted as the other boundary between east and west hemispheres.

Norbiton :D I could put Cornwall by that measure!
"Eleven minutes late, someone stole the signal box at Rabat."

I've been to Galicia (northern Spain) once, several years ago, and that's it for outside the UK. It wasn't rail-related, although we did take the train from Vigo to Santiago de Compostela. I'm not a particular fan of flying, though, so I'd be mostly limited to places reasonably accessible through the Channel Tunnel were I to go abroad again, though part of me wants to see how easy it is to go via the Channel Tunnel to Scandinavia! That aside, the furthest east I've been is Great Yarmouth (though I didn't get off the train: in my defence, it was a 37), the furthest south I've been (excluding Spain) is Shanklin, I.o.W (just), the furthest west and north is the Isle of Canna in the Small Isles.

I haven't been to Norbiton.

Despite having had a passport since October 2013, I have yet to travel outside of the UK. My only experience of travelling on a plane has been from Luton to Glasgow in 2016.

To sum up the furthest I've travelled from home:

East - Lowestoft
North - Helensburgh
West - Stranraer
South - Bournemouth
