do you mean end to end or station to station?
Did BR not run a Glasgow - Edinburgh train early in the day formed of an HST?
It continued to Kings Cross
... if it comes in from Westbury too, why not just terminate at frome, is this due to it being single line , so "capacity" issues?
why do they do this run?
seems really short for a HST, if it comes in from Westbury too, why not just terminate at frome, is this due to it being single line , so "capacity" issues?
Correct me if im wrong, and not as short as the Frome to Westbury service, but in summer and when they do/have run up there, dosent XC's HSTs work a morning Plymouth to Newquay service?
In 1988 the 2105 Cheltenham - Gloucester on a Sunday was diagrammed a HST. (6.5 miles)
FGW do similar runs with other HST services. With the evening Frome set, its probably used to provide a connection for anyone going to London.
Leaves Plymouth 0635; arrives Newquay 0827. There is also an FGW service at 0857, arriving 1055. The speed differential is interesting as only the XC journey serves Lostwithiel. (Data based on Summer 2011 timetable.)
Are you sure? I thought there was a commuter only service between G-E? Was it not 2 services?

In the morning the HST ran Edinburgh - Glasgow QS about 7.30 or 8.00 then returned through Edinburgh to Kings Cross. The reverse happened in the evening with the train returning from Glasgow about 18.00.
So the the positioning move benefited commuters living in Edinburgh and working in Glasgow - used it myself a few times!
..and sundays only at that!
Not much cop for commuters other than those with hang overs. I thought it was ECS craigentinny - GSQst.
Bit like the 0705 Ayr- Glasgow in them there days. Formed the "up" Royal Scot.
